Why I use Home Depot first.
I carefully read the description of these signal boosters and selected the one that would not over produce a signal. As a result I selected the unit with the smallest signal range as the towers were withing 25 miles. After installing the unit and testing on the new Smart Samsung TV's (40" and 55" ) it actually decreased the incoming signal. I unplugged the electrical source and my signal was restored as it had been before. This unit was not the answer that I was looking for. The best part was that I could take it to my local Home Depot store and return it with full credit to my credit card. I will always use Home Depot on Line for shopping first.

Good Product, easily installed and well made
Pre Amp did not provide the gain necessary to overcome my long coax length between my tower antenna mount and the wiring system inside for three TV's. Switching to a model with more gain should solve this problem. No problem at all with the product, well made, packed and good instructions.

Great for Attic Antenna
I installed the antenna in the attic at a high point and used cable ties to attach the antenna and pre-amp. Then had an 80ft cable run to the junction box. I installed the power source there before running another 100 ft to the unpowered splitter and then to 3 TVs. This amp allowed me to get every channel up to 35 miles away per antenna web using a static position antenna at all 3 TVs. It's nice that this device allows the power source to be put in a variety of places where there is an outlet. I was appreciative not having to install a outlet in the attic. I highly recommend to use this device for cord cutters because the amp is at the antenna and boosts the signal at the source versus down stream where there is already interference introduced. Therefore, the clean channel signals are boosted prior to the cable runs and splittter. I was going to buy on Amazon, but Home Depot had it cheaper and all the required tools (compression crimper, connectors, RG6Q by the foot)

    Does the job!
I played around with indoor antennas for years, since switching to Over The Air broadcasts about 10 years ago. I moved into a place last year that already had a rooftop antenna. The previous tenants had switched to cable and satellite, but the wires were still hanging, so I decided to try it. When I initially hooked the antenna up (no preamp), I went from 42 channels to 52 channnels. So, I added 10 channels by switching from an indoor gain antenna, to an outdoor one. By local ABC station would still not come in though. I bought the preamp and installed it at the connection just before it enters the house in the basement. This is approximately halfway between the antenna and TV and the Total Run is approximately 100 feet. My new channel search yielded 72 channels! I'm in South Jersey, and I pull in a few NY stations and a few Delaware stations now too. Excellent performance. Zero pixelation on all channels. That being said, this will do nothing on a short run. I tried the preamplifier on an indoor antenna and saw no difference whatsoever. It's purpose is to boost the signal at low voltage levels to a higher voltage, as will often occur in long runs of cable through the cable resistance. It does what it is supposed to do and it does it well.

    must get! !!!!!!!
I am using the Winegaurd flatewave in the attic (stucco walls) which is rated at 35 miles.. This pre amp boosted from 14 channels,to 23. The towers are 84.6 miles away.

Worthwhile if you need both UHF and VHF stations
I've tried a couple antennas in a couple different locations, with a couple different amplifiers (which makes what feels to be a thousand combinations!). One antenna would work inside, one would work better outside etc. My problem was one antenna was great at getting UHF and another was great at VHF, adding this amplifier made a huge difference. I think the twin amp technology makes an apparent difference, I'd recommend it

      Don't waste your time
The unit comes with no coax cable, so be prepared to troubleshoot your own cables or buy them at HD before you leave. After troubleshooting all my coax to get the thing up and running, it barely did anything to my signal, nothing truly noticeable. Who produces a product without all the needed components? I have no idea who wrote these other reviews, but don't waste your time.

      As described
Gives that added boost to pick up the furthest channels. It's attached to antenna mast on chimney. Cable then goes to a splitter, also on the mast. It then goes to the tvs. Inside amplifier is on the tv furthest from antenna...about an eighty foot run. We have three tvs and receive 80 stations ...during the day anyway. We're on the Pa De border and sometimes lose the Allentown PBS station at night. Of the 80 stations, about 65 are either praying, selling, or in Spanish. Item shipped quickly.

        Very Effective
I previously purchased a flat omnidirectional antenna which I have used when my cable TV is not available. Having just returned to my winter home, I wanted to get the TV going so I could enjoy some shows my wife and I watch regularly. With no cable available, and a solid week until the cable company was ready to send their technician, I pulled out the flat antenna and hooked it through the amplifier it came with to my TV. The result was less than spectacular and the channel I wanted to see, did not come in completely. I was only receiving about 24 channels in all, but several where only partially resolved, with broken screens and audio. I suspected that the pitifully small amplifier that came with the antenna was not sufficient. Looking around at HD, I saw this device and four positive and one negative recommendations I ran to the store and bought one. It's very simple to hook up, but I decided to use only the amplifier and not the filter (black box I presume is a passive filter). After running the auto channel identification program built into the TV, I had an indication that the TV had now identified 57 channels; a significant increase over the antenna supplier's amplifier. However, upon examination of the stations, I found that some still came in intermittently. I then put in the supplied filter. Wow! It cleaned up the remaining channels giving me solid reception of 57 channels. Bottom line; the Boost XT Digital HDTV Preamplifier is very effective in digging out stations and the filter will remove interfering noise that might diminish your reception. Use both! With this setup, I would cancel my cable subscription except that HGTV has my wife hooked.

        Great Amplifier
Live in rural town. Tired of high satellite tv bill. Installed channel master antenna. Would get 2-6 channels, depending on which way antenna was aimed. Went back to store and purchased this amplifier. Now I am getting 24 channels clean and "clear as a bell". Would highly recommend this to a friend or family member. Greatly impressed.

Works very well if you need it
How well this is going to work for you depends on whether you really need it. I set up an antenna and used a very good recently bought TV to test it. The TV I want to connect to is an older model which does have a digital tuner but its clumsy and predates the change to all digital. My older TV did not get all the stations my smaller test unit did and with the Boost Xt I got all the stations my newer unit got and few more and this over an added 40 feet of cable. If you are doing a short cable run into a current production device with a good tuner, save your money and don't buy this. If you have a long run, an un-amplified antenna and an older TV this will very likely be a good addition. Be sure to have a short length of coax handy. YOU will need it to connect the antenna to the pre amp.

        garbage
Bought this to boost the signal where the TV program was alternating with no signal message. Funny enough the signal disappeared at all. It might be the unit I bought was defective, but the power injector had the green light on with no other indication if it works properly or not. Anyway, returning to HD.

Great purchase for those with weak signal or long cable runs!
This pre-amp was recommended by a friend to help with weak over the air digital signal and when you have a long (75+ ft) cable run). Before installing this pre-amp, I received "no signal detected" from my TV tuner. After installing, I got signal strength of 75-85%, depending upon time of day. My TV reception conditions are that I have an outdoor antenna mounted 20 feet high, but with heavy tree cover in the surrounding lot. I am only 30 miles from the cluster of towers for ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS and my signal strength without the pre-amp was too weak. I highly recommend this product for those facing my same conditions.
