I'm not sure what the actual technical name is for the material, but I'd describe it as a very dense rubbery-foam material. I'm not sure what you'd want to use it on outside? I don't think it would hold up to heavy traffic for use in something like lining stairs. But in terms of uv resistance I'd imagine it would break down after a couple years, but it would last longer than rubber. In terms of water absorption I'm really not sure?
Probably just a question of cost - there are no-slip products that aren't cushioned for less
No, it's very tacky on both sides - can't imagine gluing the stuff down
Thickness seems similar to the OE liner that came on top of my rolling tool cart. It's fairly thick. I'll put it to you this way, I can't imagine a legitimate application where it would need to be THICKER than it is.
you should really measure the spaces that you want to use and let that be the tell.
You could use double stick tape but this is a drawer liner so it's not durable enough for a workbench. Would just use a piece of plywood. You want something sacrificial that can be easily replaced.
