much thicker and sticker than anticipated

According to Watco's MSDS, there isn't a drop of Tung oil in this product. How can this be. Apparently true for many of the Tung oil brands on the market. So far the Milk Paint brand is all I can find that is truly made of Tung Oil.

I purchased this item, brought it home, and could not get the lid off. I worked on it for over an hour. I returned the item, and at the return desk, 2 employees and myself, tried an additional 3 containers. NONE of them would open. Maybe the design needs to be redesigned.....

Nice product makes a professional finish

Thought it was Tung oil. It is not 100%, some mineral spirits added and/or other mysterious ingredients...

Have used this for years on all types of wood. Excellent for restoring the natural wood finish.

I put 2 coats on but the second coat didn't take very well and left a strange residue that had to be sanded off and it's still flaking off.

Had hours upon hours on a table utilizing a competitors product having a mirror, glass like finish. Had a few more coats left and this product Watco Tung Oil, hazed and cracked the finish on my table...

I didn't get a case of four, I got one can. Maybe that was why it was so expensive. The price is not marked on many items in the store. I hope the results are good when I use the product. Another rating (not available), would be useful.

The ting oil will be fine. In past decades I used linseed oil, a sign that I am very old.

Okay, typical DIY person here. Here's what I ran into. First the the can should be labeled in bold capital letters "HIGH GLOSS". Had it been, I never would have bought it. After I applied it, I figured the oil would soak in and the gloss would calm down - it didn't. Second, on close inspection it looked like the entire surface had little tiny pimples in it - thousands of them. I had meticulously sanded and tack ragged the project, so it wasn't dust. So I ended up spending an entire day removing the stuff and starting over. During the removal process, it was apparent the little pimples were tiny bits of what looked like wax. I'm beginning to think this product might be some kind of furniture wax mixed in with a solvent. Whatever it is, the chemists didn't do a very good job of putting it together. Yes, maybe I could have danced a jig to really shake the heck out of the can beforehand but who knows. I only know that this product cost me a day of drudgery. I had used tung oil finish before but quite a few years ago. My previous experiences were all good. I had found tung oil to be very easy to apply and thought this time would be no different. Now I'd never used Watco's tung oil before, but figured it was equivalent to the Homer Formbys and Minwax products that I'd used without issue years ago. So it's 2018 and I guess formulas have changed. Maybe all of them are the same now so beware regardless of which brand you go for. At least my Home Depot store refunded my money - no questions asked. That I do appreciate.

I like it very much and use a lot on the maple tables, mantles, benches that I make . I prefer the low gloss but have not been able to find it lately.

Easy to apply and looks fabulous

Using tung oil has been my choice to use for years. I haven't located a substitute.

it was thinner than most tung oils I have used. Took awhile to adjust to how to put it on without all the runs.

First time I've ever used Tung oil, but I very much like the finish. I cannot yet speak to it's durability, but for an oil finish it will not be near as high as other types of protective finishes.

Did the finish nicely.

It’s an easy to apply finish that can be brushed on and the excess wiped off. It does take at least 24 hours for each coat to dry. It’s a gloss finish if that’s what a person wants on the wood. It looks nice and quick to apply.

Did exzactly I needed it to do

Not 100% Tung Oil. Product remains sticky after 2 weeks. Will need to strip it off and reapply a DIFFERENT product. Do not purchase.

First time user. Appeared to spread and dry evenly.

Went on super easy. Did not change the color of the wood, only brought out the natural grain of the wood. Awesome

I made a walnut bar top and the tung oil really gave it a nice finish.

I am sure it is a fine product I just wasn't a fan of tung oil for this product so I didn't get a smooth finish I was looking for

Protects wood, provides a nice sheen.
