Worth the Money
Have had the Iron Filter installed about 2 months now along with a Waterboss water softener model 900 and I have to say it has improved the water quality to the point that we can drink the water with no after taste.w hen we tested the water we had iron in the range of 2.2 - 3.0ppm.The installation was easy enough even if your not a DIY person.

What a difference! Works great!
We were depending on our softener to also remove iron - but you have to regen it 3x more often. I tried to space out the regen a little and turned the toilets and some clothes brown :( Bought this at HD and had it hooked up in a few hours. Immediately noticed the difference. Does a great job at removing the iron. No more brown toilets or ruined clothes. Install was not too bad if you're handy with plumbing. Get the Sharkbite softener connectors! Instructions were pretty good. Only complaint was where it said to "quickly cycle through the regeneration stages", but didn't really tell you how. I just pushed buttons until something changed. Support only answers during biz hours...

Best Purchase I Could have made
I have well water I recommend the Water Boss system to anyone who has terrible test results on their water. I'am a DYI I double checked on programming on the system with the people from Water Boss the know there stuff. My neighbors system put in his house by a local firm would have cost me $7,000 to install at my house. I have $1,500 in the Water Boss. After flushing the lines when I looked and tasted my water I about feel thru the floor it was that good. No more bottled water for my coffee. The test strips after were perfect. Like I said my water bad when I called Water Boss to check what system I needed I gave them analysis figures. Great people at Water Boss know their stuff. No more "Culligan "experience

Buy far the best purches I ever made.
Worth every penny, I've gotten guots of 3500$, thats nuts, we got 6PPM iron and the water stincks, the iron is gone, the water smells good, & tastes great, it regens once a week, & your not a slave to those heavy salt bags every month, 5LBS every 3 to 6 months, but as a retired well driller, have your water tested first, this unit will not work with all types of water, thank god it does with mine!

arrived on time and in good condition
Easy to install. Activation takes a few hours to allow green sand to absorb water and back wash. Works great, good value and easy to maintain so far. simple programming.

Decent machine
Bought this filter to go along with the matching water softener. We have had to replace several parts on it so far. Some good aspects are that these units are short enough to put one above the other to save much needed space. Our water is running about 14ppm Fe, and a fair amount of sulphur. I imagine it would be way less prone to problems with levels lower than ours. I can say that the customer service is really good. Minimal time on the phone, and they sent replacement parts out right away.

I've been fighting with Iron for 12 years! Not any more!
I've had "professional" water guys try to charge me big money for their systems. I took a chance with the water boss. It works as advertised. For years this water stained every thing it touched legend has it ... it caused a girls hair to turn red. No more.

    Great Purchase
We bought this iron filter last year and works wonderfully! We used to get rust stains and black stuff in our toilets and since we installed this, there are no more water problems. Be careful when reading the other reviews, as I think they may be reviewing the water "softener" that takes softener salt as it looks exactly like this one. Also, with this filter you are supposed to have a water softener plus this filter. The potassium pom that it takes we could not find at Home Depot store, but Menards carries it on-line and at their stores.

      Worked great for awhile
We have had this for about 6 months now, had it installed by a licensed professional because even with the DVD it looked to hard for us. Worked great for 4 months, then we started having issues. The motor burned out, various parts have been replaced, lots of work, tank overflowed as prior reviewer mentioned. The customer care center is open M-F and is helpful and quickly shipped us any replacment parts we needed, they did speak English :) Wish they were open on the weekends though. However, repairing this was just outside our ability level and there were no service technicians in our area they would pay for (and we live in the second biggest city in the state). Dissapointed it didn't keep working, but for 400.00 I feel like it was worth a try. Make sure you have the settings set correctly (they think that is burned out our motor and started the downward spiral). Our installer set them though, so we trusted him.

      Constant maintenance
Having moved frequently, I have owned several water softeners. This is by far the greatest disappointment. When the water gradually gets harder I find some minor malfunction such as clogging of lines, pressure problems etc.. After repeatedly fixing things it seems I'm always waiting for the "next shoe to drop." On the positive side, when I needed a component replacement the service department was very responsive and friendly (in English too!!) I chose it for the small, compact size but after 4 years I am replacing it with a unit with which I have had more reliable service.

Product Works;Kind of. Very Poor Customer Service From Waterboss
When we first purchased this product 13 months ago, we thought,"Wow, what a value!" 3 months after purchase the problems started. The brine tank should only have about 6 inches of liquid; ours had 3 feet. After 3 calls to Waterboss, we were shipped parts to replace the all of the mechanics on the top of the unit, but even after draining the tank and following all of the directions, the unit still was filling up. It took many more calls and all they said was we will send you new parts or I could have a service tech from the area come out to look at it. This service tech would cost me out of my pocket, not to be reimbursed by Waterboss at any point. Then, if the tank was found to be damaged, I would have to ship it back, on my own dime, to determine the issue. I was not going to pay that shipping again! I found that this was a continued issue with the units when my brother-in-law installed the same unit, purchased from a different store months later, and had the exact same issue. Same response from Waterboss. We are now renting a unit from a well know carrier that does not require any additives! We are much happier with the new product! If you purchase this product, good luck, you will need it! Oh yeah, and WHEN it floods your basement, you may need to invest in a wet dry vac (and yes, that is even with the "overflow" tube hooked up!

      My water is clear
I have fought iron stains for 40 years.I was willing to give this product 30 days to prove itself. Within 24 hours I had crystal clear water coming out of the tap. I can now look forward to laundry that does not have spots & stains from the iron.No more white clothes that turn tan over time. No more rusty looking porcelain fixtures. I am overjoyed.

      Product Still In Review
The product seems to be a good product and hopefully will meet our needs. It is very early in our owning of the Water Boss Filter. The "instructions" for setup, are absolutely atrocious, seemingly written by an 8th grader, who was somewhat unfamiliar with the product. We did struggle through, and hopefully all is running well, although at this point it's only been through one regen. The WORST part is obtaining the 'Potassium Permanganate' used in the product. A call to the company met with some unconcern, and a lady stated with finality, "....people all over the country get it at Home Depot!" Sad to say, that's not the case here in Houston, In fact, we're in the fourth largest city in the nation, and it's practically impossible to buy "Potassium Permanganate"!, and 'NO' Dorothy, not EVEN at Home Depot! (I will say that a well meaning VERY helpful service attendant at one of the local stores tried valiantly to assist me in the purchase of "Pot Perm", because a picture of it was on their screen, alas it was not to be. I was finally forced to have to purchase 4 pounds, I think from outer space, at the "robbery" rate of $70.00 counting ground shipment to Houston. I see promise in the product, and hopefully it will fulfill our needs. If you NEED 'iron reduction', I'm still going to recommend this product, just get your ducks in a row before you start.

      A Total Waste of Money
This unit has only been installed for a short period of time - but has clogged on minute amounts of sediment almost immediately every time it is put into service. It backwashes tremendous amounts of the cleansing agent into my water - if it works at all. I paid $400 for this unit, and have spent over $300 to date in installation and repairs. It's useless - I would return it, but it will cost more to take it apart and get it out of here than I will recoup.

Works even better than I expected.
The 900IF is rated to remove up to 15ppm of clear water iron. Ours was only 0.6ppm but it was enough to turn things yellow over time. After it was in service for two days, iron could not be detected in a test sample. It was easy to connect near our well and pressure tank since all of the piping was PVC and a bypass was already in place. There was a problem with the controller when it arrived. I called the Waterboss 800 number and a very nice service rep helped me find the problem in a few minutes. A new controller arrived in a couple of days. Alyssa, the service rep helped me set it up in about five minutes and it has operated fine for the two weeks that it has been online.

      so far so good
Installation was pretty straight forward. Start up instructions not always clear, but cust.service was great. Had to call twice and both times got right thru, they spent the time to talk me thru process. We have a water softener but it didn't help much with the iron in water. So far the water boss iron filter is working great. Laundry is coming out much better, water in toilet bowls no longer brown and I can use tap water again to make coffee and cook, water is crystal clear.

Wish I had purchased thirty years ago.
Installed and waited two months before commenting. Within two days, all traces of hydrogen sulfide odors were gone. Once stains were cleaned, they have yet to return. In a house with just two people, we regenerate every tens days. Might be able to go to twelve. Used a softener for years to keep iron out (as well as the hard water). This is vastly superior. I don't regenerate the softener as often, so salt usage dropped. Water tastes better (no more filtered water to buy) and the organic material in the water closets have virtually disappeared. Toilet bowl cleaning is basically flushing, no more hanging cleaners or blue water to help hide the ugly. Wish I had put this in 30 years ago. When the softener dies Water Boss will be the replacement. VERY HAPPY.

Good Product But it is Messy
Product was not that difficult to install and works great but the liquid has to be stirred every two weeks and it is almost impossible to accomplish that without getting your hand stained.

      so far so good
my dad ordered this because he had alot of rust in his water. He is in his 80's so someone else he paid to install it. Said though it was so far doing what it suppose to do. He saved money in the mean time because he would have had to buy a water softner then this and that. So far this is doing wonders.,

      Keep looking!
This thing has never worked properly. Have had it for almost 5 years. It was installed properly, but never used salt, so the company continuously sent us new parts. We had to install them ourselves and figure everything out on our own because the instructions are minimal at best! Looks like we are going to have to replace another part again. Can’t believe anybody has had luck with this. My father went through 2 of these things before he finally decided to go with another brand. I will be doing the same! Save yourself from the anger and save money, time and energy and get another brand.

        works great
after years of trying to remove the iron out of my well water with softners I thought I would take a chance and try this iron filter and after a month of using it I can say it works just fine.My well water has 10ppm iron and after receiving the iron filter I was worried because it said water had to be at least 7ph and mine is 6ph but with this filter and my softner no more iron stains!!!

Works GREAT! No more orange stains.
When I bought my home it had a system that was not working. A local water guy charged me $367 to service it and tell me it was missing a brine tank. He offered a system for $3800. This system is doing everything he promised his would do for far less money. The only annoying thing about this system is that it requires potassium permanganate. The system does not ship with it and Home Depot does not carry it. I had to order it over the Internet and have it shipped.

An iron reducer that doesnt remove iron
I bought this after reading about and reviewing feedback. This only removes clear iron, not red iron that maybe in your water. If they specified this in there ad they would receive alot less returns. And of course i have to eat the shipping. Big waist of time and money.

Water Boss Iron Filter works great
Our water had severe odor and poor taste. We installed the Water boss next to our existing softener, no more odors or taste issues. Pretty simple installation, came with a video. When our softener needs to be replaced we will install a Water Boss softener.

Easy to install and set up.
I replaced an iron filter with this one, it was easy to install, works well and is simple to service. Less hands on with potassium and this filter works off of filtered water to draw the potassium up to the head, so I hope less plugging from rusty sludge.
