This is a handy moderate-duty cordless soldering iron. I used this to solder a couple of 22 gauge wire. Although it took 1 minute and 12 seconds for the iron to get to full temperature as indicated when the power LED turns green, I was able to begin soldering after about 45 seconds. Instruction are strictly pictographic, but relatively clear. The iron includes a Weller BL11 chisel tip. Also available from Weller is the BL10 conical tip. You can easily pop the tip off of the handle (wait until it’s room temp!) to replace it. Also included is the charging stand and power supply. The stand stores an iron rest in its base; used to rest the iron while you’re using it.

Perfect for use in inconvenient locations. Heats up fast, and makes good looking solder joints. I ran it for about 45 minutes straight on a dozen XLR connectors and it was still going strong.

Two big benefits of this cordless soldering iron are that the absence of a cord lets me put it down on small areas and not have the cord pull it away from where I place it and, of course, I do not need to pull an extension cord over to the work area when power is not readily available. It does a very nice jot soldering wires such as one finds in automobiles (think in terms of the wires at trailers and hitches when out in driveway or in a garage) and also for general shop use. It heats up to temperature quickly. The LED spot light aimed toward the work being soldered works well for me. What I appreciate the most is that the soldering irons stays where I put it when I set it down. I have long been annoyed by the need to clamp or weight cords to corded irons so that they do not get pulled where the cord wanted them to go, not where I wanted the soldering iron to stay. This cordless unit is a dream come true to avoid that enormous aggravation. One of the attached photos shows the soldering iron on top of the control box for a mill in my workshop. It was great being able to put it down on that smallish area, but very convenient for the task at hand, and not have the soldering iron being pulled off by a cord. And, it solders quickly and well.

This is a nice addition to my other soldering irons, it heats up quick and does a great job at soldering, I got about 15 joints and wires soldered and probably could have done more. The charging stand has a neat attachment on the side to set the iron on when hot. It has a handy on off switch and light to let you know it is on and there is enough charge to solder more. Also a light that shines on the work area. I now do not have to drag an extension cord around and if I need to solder something far from the edge, I don’t have to worry about a cord damaging anything.

Except for the nearly impossible-to-open plastic packaging, I really like this Weller cordless soldering iron (Model BL60MP). It's light, ergonomic, and QUICK to heat up. It reached full temp (per the indicator light) in 2:00 minutes but was able to melt solder in about 30 seconds. Full charge took several hours – a convenient LED on the charger turns from Red/Green when charged. Easy to hold. I had some trouble removing the iron holder/stand initially. It's held in place by some clips on the bottom of the stand but once removed it should never need to be replaced there. This kit comes with the smallest available BL-type tip. Two others available on-line or through Home Depot and up to three stips store in the stand. I have one concern about durability: the tip appears to be hollow, one reason it heats up so quickly, and I fear it may not hold up to long periods of use. Extra tips are pricey so I hope I don't need to replace one too soon. There's a high price to pay for the convenience of cord-free soldering, but it's worth it to me – and this option is still cheaper than some others.

I was excited to get this Weller Cordless Soldering Iron because I had a soldering job on my desk that had been on hold for months. The product was in one of those clear plastic blisters that require cutting to unpack. After they are open they are almost impossible to use to store the product and create more plastic garbage. So I took it out and started to look at the instructions. I never saw a product with instructions in more languages. 26 to be exact, on a giant sheet of paper. But when I looked for the English instructions I didn't see them on the sheet. There they were, on the package itself. Make that 27 languages. But really, if you ever used a soldering iron before, who needs instructions? It all easily went together and sat ready in its holder ready for work. Soldering is a job where it would be quite convenient to have 3 hands. You have to position the solder, the wire, the component, and the soldering iron. Four hands would be even better. Not dealing with the cord makes life that much easier. Soldering iron heated up quickly. The sharp pointed tip went on the terminal nimbly. I repaired the little solar powered flashlight that goes on my keychain. A new one costs about 2 bucks, but I was able to repair this one. Would have been easier to throw it away and get a new one, but you know, life's little victories.

Nice compact little set! Charger and soldering iron, and no cords to melt! This little unit fully charges for use in 2 hours, is at operating temperature (green light comes on) after a short 2 minutes on: solder goes on smoothly and evenly. Great for electrical wiring repairs! We like the spots for keeping different types of tips stored on charger station. Certainly made short work of our first project!

I got this soldering iron to replace a propane fired one that I use when I am somewhere without electricity. The propane one has always been a lot of trouble since you have to fill it with propane, light it and wait for it to heat up. Now that I have tried out this iron I think that it may replace not only the propane iron but in most cases my two soldering stations. The charging base serves as a holder while using the iron. it is a lot quicker to set up than the plug in soldering stations. The little LED light is a nice touch. It gives good illumination right where it is needed. Weller has always been a leader in soldering irons and this one of their best ideas.

YESSS!!!! Weller finally made a cordless soldering iron. I love this little titan. It took well over an hour to initially charge. I had been using an ancient 40 watt iron for 46 years then finally started using a Butane iron last year. I honestly do not like the idea of a flame and compressed gas. This little puppy though is just fantastic for my needs. It is comfortable, light and well balanced. I only occasionally do repair soldering or solder the ends of twisted copper wires to make the wrappings on wood bow ties. Yup, wood bow ties. This iron heats up faster than the Butane and does not require expensive Butane fill ups. I will probably never have a big enough job to test how long the battery will last. Mounting on the charging station is fool proof. It will only go in the correct way AND you can leave the tip on while charging. I would like to see the “on” indicator in the iron itself turn green when tip is up to usable temp but regardless of that it is fast. Some complained about the ad showing 3 tips. My add did not. In fact the description only mentions one tip. They are available but are kinda expensive, I think, $10 to $16 each and only in point and small chisel. One MAJOR NEGATIVE is the instructions, or more to the point, the LACK of instructions. They tell you nothing but safety and do not’s. No diagrams, nothing on the tips or how to change the battery. I found it fairly easy to figure out. So solder away with ease and safety my friend.

The Weller Cordless Rechargeable Soldering Iron is very convenient. Not only does this eliminate the need to drag out a cord while working away from the bench, but also keeps the cord from cluttering up the work area or causing a tripping hazard. It takes a little over 30 seconds to heat up thoroughly but then is as hot as my other soldering iron. I can’t attest to it working for 45 minutes but for a handful of connections that I normally do it has worked great. The LED on the iron helps to see where the tip is clearly. The soldering iron comes with a power supply that has an LED charge indicator built into it, shining red when charging and green when complete. The power supply plugs into a charging station that has a removable wire tool stand and a place to store extra tips. NOTE: This specific soldering iron only comes with ONE conical tip. Others need to be bought separately. This tool has a 7 year warranty which covers everything except the tip and the battery, which are classified as consumables by the manufacturer. I am very satisfied with this soldering iron. It has worked well for the soldering projects that I have. I would definitely recommend this to others!

I just got this and it is on the charger now. I had to look at the instructions to see it chrages upside down. It had enough charge to heat up which it does pretty quickly. There is a slide switch so you don't have to hold anything to get it to heat up. I think this will be very handy. I used to use my torch when I could not get power and this is a much better idea. Nice and small and light.

I purchased the Weller Soldering iron, and it worked good for about a month. Then other day, it simply stopped working. It no longer heats up, and so now I am looking into returning it. Perhaps I got the one bad apple, maybe not.

This is my second seller soldering iron. I am pretty pleased with it. It does what it needs but can’t use as much because of the element won’t work properly if over worked.

I did not receive all the items that were in the photo illustration. Hence, the photo is not accurate of what the customer will receive upon delivery. This item was purchased to replace an ISOTIP Cordless Soldering Iron that I've owned for over 25+ years. (replaced the battery twice) The NiCad battery was not holding a strong charge. I've owned the BL60 MP for only a couple of weeks. Charged it up and tested the tip once. The Li-Ion battery, base/tip design and LED light are a nice upgrade over my previous iron. I need to try some wire soldering, to truly test it. I know that Weller makes quality soldering products, so I know it will meet my expectations. Thank you.

Excellent product. It only comes with one tip though, not the three shown in the picture, which cost it a star. The other two are available at prices from $10 to $20 each depending on where you get them (plus shipping). The iron goes into the charging stand tip down, but the storage pocket is metal lined so storing it while it's hot shouldn't be a problem, despite the warnings in other reviews. The charge indicator is on the wall wart, not the charging stand, so if you want to monitor it, make sure you plug it in where it's visible. When you turn it on, it stays on until you turn it off, which I find a convenience. The tip temperature is not controlled, so if you don't use it, it will continue getting hotter, probably up to around 900F (I haven't measured it). The battery is a common off the shelf one, readily available with external charger, so carrying a spare or two will allow prolonged use in the field. I'm happy with it.
