We had a Kitchen Aid compactor that had multiple problems but this Whirlpool is quieter, smoother action and has functioned perfectly.

It doesn’t open like the ones I have previously owned. It is harder to close than previous ones also.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased a Whirlpool Trash Compactor and received it around the middle of July while we were traveling. We finally got home in the middle of August and I like that the handle is not stainless steel but very concerned if the start push button will continue to work for years to come. We have always liked Whirlpool products especially their washer & dryer. I hope we do not have issues with the buttons.

Solid performer and replacement for an existing compactor that failed after 12 years.

We had a KitchenAid compactor, that was old and the new compactor is and feels a lot cheaper made and very light weight to the old compactor. My wife has a problem pushing the activate compact button. Made a lot cheaoer than past compacter.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this compactor to replace one we had purchased 12 years ago. The old one served us well and lasted longer than most from what I researched so no complaints. Honestly this one may be the exact same as the one we replaced as it seems almost identical. It is quieter but that could just be comparing old to new. The only reason I gave it four starts is because of the price. I understand that everything gets more expensive over time but this took quite a jump. I understand that it is because compactors are not as popular as before so fewer are made and sold so they have gotten more expensive. All in all though so far it has been a great purchase. If you are looking for a nice looking well made compactor I strongly recommend this unit. I only hope we get another 12+ years out of this one!

Super easy to set up. Opted for freestanding, easy to level, plug and play. Do wish it used more standard size bags that were easier to find and put in.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this for my new house because I had one in my previous home that I loved. This on does not measure up quite as well. I had a turn nob to activate the compactor, this new one has a push pad that you have to bend over to find to start the compaction. I preferred the turn knob that I would just reach down and feel the knob and turn it on. Also the drawer doesn’t slide out far at all. When you push the pedal to open the drawer it opens about 6 inches. You have to reach down and pull the drawer open to put larger items in it. My previous one would pop open almost fully. I would go check out better ones. But if this is all there is it will work ok.

Exactly what I needed. I had the same model but purchased over 10 years ago. My kitchen was remodeled 9 years ago and the dimensions of the under counter mount is specific. Thank goodness this model is still being made. I can’t imagine not having a compactor in my kitchen. This is also a reliable product.

Item door did not work properly when received

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Poor quality. It’s been replaced twice. Not made of a heavy material. Fingerprints and other spots very hard to get off. Very noisy and motor doesn’t sound good even though it was just replaced for the second time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the second Whirlpool trash compactor we have bought for our last two homes. It is a great appliance and it greatly reduces the trips out to the exterior trash bin. I highly recommend this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Install easy, need 1 and 1/2 person to perform the install for electric and unit with cord. Works like advertised and pretty quite. Great compacting too. Opening with foot can be tricky at times.
