faults advertising on this one
the ads all say 14000 but when it arrived the box says 13500 but. no where on the unit does it say 14000. the heater function isn't found so no real heat. and when u plug this in on its own 20 amp circuit, it just blows cool air for a few minutes then start giving off a burning smell... no thank you! waist of money and now also a big waist of time to put this thing back in a box a haul it back to home depot..

while the air conditioning function seems to work properly, the heater function does not. I cannot get warm much less hot air out of it. also, the venting tube is bulky, semi difficult to position well due to its short length and the connector keeps coming off the window holder. I will likely be returning for a refund or replacement with a different product. I have already had to return the 10,000 btu unit from the same manufacturer. note, it may be they don't travel well being shipped which is in itself a huge problem if thats the case... sorry. on a good note, it is pretty.....

Replaced an older GE unit and I think this one is superior. I was reluctant to purchase because I did not know this brand, but I’m glad I did. So far everything works perfectly and I highly recommend this unit.

When we got the item delivered and we started to get it unpacked and started to put it together, my husband noticed that one of the pieces was damaged. We were able to reach out to home depot and email vendors regarding this issue. We able to get this part it replaced and it is now fine. Ac unit works good and it works great as I would have expected it to.

Whynter 14,000 BTU A/C excellent choice except.............
Cools well, heats well, be aware that the heat pump function requires a drain for water condensate permanently connected. A/C function is too noisy compared to a window unit or central air. Will bother light sleepers when unit cycles on and off during the night. Manufacturer also notes that unit can be louder than expected. Air flow in both heat and a/c modes is awesome, cools and heats a large 4000sq ft bedroom that faces the afternoon sun quickly. The room also has lots of windows.

AC HEAT PUMP WORKS LIKE A DREAM
Easy set up and unpacking....Unit works great in heat pump mode. Condensate self pumps out without having to dump. Seems to be quieter than last unit. Thermostat keeps a constant room temp but it seems to read a little lower than the actual room temp.

Problems with heat function.
I bought it mainly for its heat pump. The heat itself is very good, but you can only run the heat function on "auto." Because of this, you can't set the fan speed and it only runs the fan in that setting on high. This made it so that it was constantly loud, but more importantly, it creates so much air movement that we were always, asking eachother, "is it just me, or are you cold?" The windly environment it creates by always being being on high fan, outdid any of the heating. This would be a great unit if you could set the fan to low when using the heat function. Also, the remote never worked.

Cooling works well. Heat, not so much
When used in my workshop this summer it cooled it down within a reasonable amount of time. Once the weather went from hot to cool (not cold), I tried out the heat. I was disappointed with the heat pump side. It struggled to put out even a minor bit of heat. The sun did more to heat up building from the roof on my workshop than this unit did. That said, it is still very convenient and easy to move so worth it to me.

the compressor makes a loud noise when shutting down.........unit is in bedroom and constantly wakes us up....bought HD extended warranty....have to suffer a year until factory warranty expires and I can return to HD. Factory warranty wants customer to ship to factory....useless warranty...be aware

poor quality of exhaust hose
I purchased this unit in January 2022. We started using the a/c component in June. Today, when I turned the unit on, i noticed the light coming through the exhaust hose. There was a split in the cheap plastic hose. When i tried to tape it, it just kept falling apart with every effort to extend the hose. Really bad! The room I am cooling is 225 sf. And the unit does heat and cool it nicely. The service department of Whynter was very helpful and accommodating.

No replacement activated charcoal filters
Since purchasing this over a year ago replacement activated charcoal filters have been unavailable and customer service at Whynter has been of no help.

I am so happy with my Whynter 14,000 BTU Portable...
I am so happy with my Whynter 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner. It has really helped to cool my home down where I wouldn't have any air at all. I hope and pray it continues to work well as this rating is coming after a couple of months of use. The drain hose does pop off from time to time as other customers have indicated and I wish it had a better connection for the price, however, there is a simple fix so that you don't constantly have to worry about reconnecting it by using tape. I am happy with this air conditioner, I am just hoping that it continues to work well for a long time.
