Went on as expected but only time will tell if it protects which is the primary reason I purchased. Brushed on PT wood posts and rails of fence prior to installation. Brushing was easy with 5" deck brush but a half acre of rough fencing wood still took a good amount of time. I think a second coat would give a blacker appearance but also probably unnecessary since the wood is new pressure treated and I'm worn out from one coat and color is still nice. Posts are closer to black but rails are more of a dark weathered charcoal/brown. Raw pressure treated wood is ugly so definitely better than that but may reapply in future if I decide I want rails blacker. Four stars because I don't know yet if it will protect and I had hoped it was a little more black.

Easy to use but needs to be applied on cloudy days to avoid skin burns

I purchased the case of CreoCoat (4 cans). Each can is .88 of a gallon - NOT 1 U.S. Gallon as shown in the picture. It still costs $143.87 for 4 cans, even though you'll be getting almost half of a gallon less. I gave it an "Average" rating as I have to wait and see how long it works!

Creocoat goes on nicely to bare wood with a brush.

We used 2 coats. Creocoat makes our old RR ties look great & we feel the wood preservative & insect repellent will give us more years before replacing the ties.

Needs mo' pigment so lasts longer. We'll see how long this second year application lasts.

I depend on CreoCoat for all of our four-rail 2' x 10' Douglas Fir fencing around and across our 1/2 acre property. This preservative keeps the wood free from any damage and we only re-apply every 10 years or so; more for appearance than for protection.

Painted one fence panel to make sure we liked it before moving on to the rest of the fence. It was faded by the next weekend. Faded as in “almost couldn’t tell I painted it” faded .Ended up just going with asphalt fence paint .

Easy to apply with roller. We couldn't be happier. House we built was 20 years old and had neglected railroad ties. This product brought them back to life. Amazing.

The material is thick enough that there is no splash. It covers smoothly and easily. Excellent product.

We use this on our railroad tie wall and it makes it fresh again!

Easy to use and cleanup is super easy

Very similar to the old creosote - except with soap and water clean-up. The odor is significant, and we are waiting to see how long it takes to dissipate. Also curious to know how it looks when it weathers.

Soaking is the best application, but only the ends of a 2x6 will fit the can. Only about 7 inches of the end will get soaked. Multiple applications is required to get the wood soaked. Transferring the product to a larger container, like a QUALITY MADE 5 gallon can is preferable for soaking. Standing the wood inside the 5 gallon can and using the paint brush to apply the preservative to the rest of the wood seems to work better. The can is easily deformed, the ears holding the wire hanger was dented allowing the wire hanger end to come off while lifting the can, spilling a good portion of the preservative and a big mess. Since it is water soluble cleanup was easy. The steel used for the can is 0.010 inch thick and very pliable.

It was easy to mix and simple to apply. Dried in 48 hour. We will use it again on our next project.

The product applies easily and I like the packaging with a built-in pour spout. However, two days after painting the deck wood it got wet. When wiping up the spilled water, I noticed that the product came right back off. I did not expect that it would come off so easily.

Good penetration into the wood...time will tell if it works.

Using this on fresh PT pergolas, looks great, soaks right in

I believe this product is very good, but it is winter and the material that I needed to apply the product to was wet and it was going to be very hard to get it dry this time of year. You can't apply to wet material and it said on the instructions that you should have a certain type of ventilator mask when applying and I didn't have one of those. It was going to be a lot of work to get it applied to the wood and was going to take a lot more time than I had so I returned it and didn't even use it.

Was not the color we wanted. This stuff is BLACK. We wanted more of a dark brown.
