I have a 50 year old Honeywell boiler. 17 months ago the thing was not reliable. I paid a pro to clean the burners and replace the thermocoupler, I do not know the brand. 4 months ago ..just over a year same problem. The pro used a 30 inch. I went to a few places and could only find 24inch. I installed this honeywell. It lasted 4 just 4 months. I thought maybe because I pulled and tugged to get it to thread. So this week I bought an ACE universal Eastman 30 inch so installation was a snap. It failed. I called 3 professionals..all were 2 days out to come and this is in an apartment building with 30F outside temps in FEB in Michigan 2020. Even though i thought it was the gas valve at this point and threw in the towel, I tried another 24 inch honeywell. I stretched it and install was hard. but it has been working for now. So I ordered a 30inch honeywell online so I will be ready next time. I submit that not all thermocoupler types will work for boilers. Can I recommend this one....there is no alternative that I know of .

Perfect part and easy to install!
This saved me over $100 in parts and labor! I found the effect art for $12 and was able to replace it perfectly and had hot water in 30 minutes! My wife and daughter think I'm "Mr. Fixit" now!

    Does Not fit
First, picture shows a Honeywell screw in type. Eastman 60038 is a push in type with adapter. Home Depot did not carry the original Honeywell so bought the Eastman as was told it would fit. It did not. Went back to the original Honeywell type from another hardware store.

      Fair quality
It lasted about 3 years which is fair, so I decided to buy again to replace. The adaptor material at the burner side is quite soft, so after I unscrewed the old one, the thread was mashed. Now when I was about to finish the replacement but screwing in the adaptor on the pilot side, I couldn't screw in the right spot. After spending almost an hour, I gave up. I examined the thread start and realized it just wasn't made well and consistent. It's the coolest day of the year, so I just didn't want to chance it again and went to get the original brand instead to redo the whole process but only in 5 min. So overall it's fairly good product but inspect the adaptors' threads closely before purchase. Just a tiny bit of workmanship details could make a big difference to get the job done easily and quickly.

we bought this item because in March our furnace stopped working. During the summer we bought this in the hopes that we wouldn't have to buy a new furnace. Since installing the thermocouple, the furnace has worked well, if not better than before.

        Wrong thread size
Bought Part # 60038. Will not fit into my Robert shaw GSW-81629-05 gas control valve. The thread size on this thermo-couple is .0035" too small. Original thermo-couple thread size is.003 " larger in diameter. Just remember these threads are left hand threads. My tank is a 16 years old John Woods with the Robert Shaw control valve. Not Home Depots fault.

Good product, but removed 1 star because this should be carried by Home Depot at all time. This is a critical piece for furnace and water heater, not everyone can wait 1 week for that small part to arrive so one can have hot water/heat.

Last one lasted 16 years in Rheem gas furnace
Burner would not ignite even though pilot was on in my ancient natural gas furnace so I replaced thermocouple with same model. Old one was in there since 2003! Hope this one lasts as long. Very easy to do. I am a 62 year old female DIY type

Easy, straight forward installation. $8 part saved me what probably would have been easily over $300 for a service company to fix.

24" Universal Gas Thermocouple made by Honeywell
I bought one of these for my Burnham hot water boiler and it didn't work. The pilot light would come on but would immediately go out after I lifted my finger off the red button. After two days without heat I was able to get a reliable serviceman in and he found that the problem was the thermocouple I bought at Home Depot.. Cost me a $150 service call. He told me that these thermocouples may be OK in some applications but in his experience they are generally no good for furnaces or boilers. .

              Web site deception
The website shows a Honeywell unit which is an excellent item. When I got to the store they are selling some dubious quality no-name item. Didn't have time to look elsewhere so I bought it but was not happy!

              It worked!
The universal Thermocoupler worked perfect. My hot water heater was not the same name brand as the Thermocoupler, but it works!!
