Answer This Question
A: For the electric smoker the maximum temperature is 250 degrees. Slow and low is the key for successful smoking. If you are using charcoal please follow the owners manual guide lines, on the recommended amount of charcoal to use. Also you can adjust the slide vents on the smoker, as well to help get the desired temperature.

Q:can this be used inside the house, with little smoke released into the house? I use stove smokers, and they let some smoke out, which is acceptable, but I have to use 3 of them, rotating, and it takes me 4 hours just to smoke my vegetables. I need something bigger, but able to be used in the house.

A: Lucky if you can get it up to 225... and you'll need to buy a thermometer to know you got there. It is a piece of crap.

A: The maximum temperature on this unit is 250 degrees - it is designed for slow smoking - not searing. We recommend to always use a meat thermometer to gauge the internal temperature of your meat.

Q:I also once owned a Brinkman similar to this, and I was able to place lava rocks under the heating element. Those rocks absorbed the dripping grease and added smoke flavor. After over 20 years of service, it finally gave out last year, but I need another one like it. Can I use lava rocks with this model?

Q:I once had a basic Brinkmann smoker with an electric element. I was able to place a little charcoal and wood chips directly into and on the electric element to keep charcoal burning even in colder weather. This combination worked very well for me.
Can charcoal and wood chips be combined together to smoke foods?
Thank you for any response.

Answer This Question
A: Our Americana combination smokers can be used either as electric or charcoal smoker but not at the same time. With our 1500 watt electric element no charcoal is necessary but soaked wood chips can be used to get that wonderful smoky flavor.

A: I do use wood only but, I do NOT let the wood to touch the element. That will cause the element to over heat and burn out sooner.
