A:  It depends on how many blades you have if you have multiple blades you have to take off

A:  I didn't remove the blade (rusted on) and sharpened. It cuts well but the balance is not right. Remove the lbade to use the balance tester )very rudimentary( for best results.

A:  To correctly sharpen the blade needs to be off the lawn mower because you need to balance the blade you cannot have an unbalanceed blade

      Answer This Question

A:  Yes, though the blade balancer will not.

      by|Jul 16, 2019

        A:  No, I don’t think so; it’s for a rotary flat blade.

        by|May 5, 2023

A:  It might, but you’d have to keep the reel stationary.

A:  I don’t think you would need the balancing tool. I believe that is used for a rotary blade.

Q:Would this be a good to use on a reel push mower?

            Answer This Question

A:  It sharpened my blades on my gas mower; thus I see no reason why it would not be useful on a reel push mower as long as you have access to each blade so that you can use the drilling tool that this attaches to for use.

A:  For years I have used a file to sharpen my blades. I just used this item two days ago and it took me seconds to complete the job. Those blades were so sharp, it was if they were brand new. The balancing device is not the best but it will do

A:  I don’t think so. I believe it is only designed for rotary bladed mowers. I think reel mowers are sharpened at a 90 degree angle where rotary mowers are sharpened at a greater angle i.e. 45-50 degree angle.

A:  Yes, it works on any mower blade to include reel mower blades.

A:  That's a lot of blade to sharpen. I have never done one of those. But what I can tell you is that it dose not sharpen blades very well, I think it is mainly for finishing or polishing a blade that has an edge already on it. If your blades are dull then use a file or grinder or buy new That's my opinion.

A:  We use a file most of the time for a reel mower because it gets right to the corner of each blade. Yes this would work just fine but wont get to the edge of each blade.

A:  It is 25°. I was looking for 30°, as that how my mower blades were sharpened at the factory, and I couldn't use this.

A:  Remember the old joke about buying a yacht: "If you have to ask what it costs, you can't afford it"? Well, if you have to ask about the angle, you don't want this one. It is a simple, inexpensive way for a handy homeowner to keep his mower blade reasonably sharp. There are serious tools out there for those who want to get it just right.

A:  You will know if it needs sharpening when your lawn mower is hard to push and the lawn looks worse than your neighbors.

A:  Never a bad idea to knock the paint off of the actual cutting surface of the blade, but it doesn't "need sharpening."
