A:  Hi! Thanks for reaching out. Before brewing coffee, you'd want to make sure that the lid on the carafe is locked, this seals the carafe and helps retain heat from the brewed coffee. The thermal carafe retains the heat of the coffee for a minimum of 1 hour after brewing. You may also want to preheat the inside of the carafe by putting hot water in it, and then dumping it out before brewing. Hope this is helpful! A:  Hi! Thanks for checking. The carafe and lid are not dishwasher safe. After each use, you should empty the carafe. Then, rinse the carafe and lid under warm running water. If you let coffee stand overnight in the carafe it can lead to staining. For a deeper clean, wash regularly in warm, soapy water and a soft bristled brush. Do not use abrasive cleaners as they may scratch the finish. Make sure you rinse and dry the parts thoroughly. Hope this is helpful! All the best. -Michael@Cafe
