Q:Dose the unit have to be installed after the pressure tank on the main input line? An FAQ states this but a more optimal location for me would be to install before the pressure tank.

Answer This Question

A:  It is better to install Calmat after the pressure tank, so the water in the pipes is better treated. In the pressure tank, the water stays for some time without any effect, preventing the nano crystals to grow. The longer it stays, the more efficiency gets lost, that is why we prefer to treat after the pressure tank, where the water is being consumed and circulating throughout the piping system. All the turbulences meanwhile let the crystals grow and the effect stabilizes more and more.

Q:The litature states that manganese levels should be below .1. Mine is .2? Should I not use this?
    by|Oct 8, 2023

    Answer This Question

A:  The optimal condition for Calmat to work at full capacity is that your manganese content doesn't exceed more than 0.1 mg/l (0.1 ppm). If your manganese contents are higher than these numbers it is recommended to add a manganese filter before Calmat, so Calmat will work at full capacity. Note that over 0.1 mg/l is a very high value of manganese, not very common in most households.

Q:I have been using this Calmart unit for several years. The only issue I found is mineral deposits on the bathroom glass door, sink, and electric kettle. I am thinking of installing a filter to catch those minerals. What kind of filter do you suggest?

Q:I do not have access to the main water pipe before it splits inside the wall. Should I install it after the cold water supply valve? From the picture, which pipe is best to install Calmat?
        by|May 25, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  If the unit is installed on the pipe that supplies cold water, only the cold water in the home would be treated, as calmat works downstream. If you have zero access to the main water pipe at any point of the piping system, you may have to either install two units; one on the cold water pipe and one on the pipe that feeds into your hot water tank/system, or create access to the main water pipe anywhere before the cold/hot water split. For further assistance to figure out other possible options, you could reach out to us at info@spacioinnovations.com. Calmat works on all pipe materials equally well.

Q:Is there a minimum GPG or mg/L hardness that your water should be to make this worthwhile and to work effectively? My water does cause scale, but isn?t nearly 50 GPG. It?s closer to around 8 GPG or 140 mg/L. Would this work effectively with that range?

          Answer This Question

A:  Calmat has successfully treated cases with a water hardness of 1000 mg/L (~ 59 gpg) or more. There is no minimum hardness your water should be for the unit to be effective. Your water hardness of 8 GPG would be no problem for the Calmat unit.

Q:The main water line enters the house using copper pipe and this is where I will attach the Calmat unit. The copper pipe feeds the remainder of the house with Pex tubing. Do I set the program on copper pipe or Pex ( plastic pipe)?

            1 Answer
            Answer This Question

A:  If you would be installing the Calmat unit on the copper pipe, you would use the Metal (copper) setting. The setup programs are to be selected based on the pipe material and diameter where the impulse cables are wrapped on.

Q:Can I use this in a sprinkler well system to get rid of rust.
              by|Jan 31, 2023
              1 Answer
              Answer This Question

A:  Garden irrigation with sprinklers becomes more reliable as the nozzles stay free of scale longer. Calmat treated water can be absorbed and processed better by plants. As there are less scale spots on the leaves your plants take up water and rainwater better and look healthier. When the Calmat treatment reduces scale, it also takes away rust from the piping system. The benefits of Calmat are: Reduction of scale deposits in the whole piping system and appliances (increasing lifespan), dismantles already existing deposits, corrosion protection, increased water pressure, minimizes rust, and minimizes bacterial growth in pipes.
