They stay in the water.
"Doesn't Work" What were you expecting really? If you bought this to lengthen the life of your pipes, appliances (hot water heater) then your measure of works takes years to determine. If you are thinking about it making your water 'soft' then --you didn't buy a water softener. I replaced a hot water heater around 10X the cost of this unit. I bought one of these and set it up just in front. My thought is that if using it makes my hot water heater last more than 10% longer, then the ScaleBlaster has paid for itself. Anything more is pure icing.
I would install a nice softener instead. This unit caused scaling in my dishwasher then stopped working correctly first year.
The one that I have is connected After the water softener, I also read something about that on the manufactures web site, so Yes
No, It does "remove" ANYTHING from your water.
What I read is that the minerals stay in the water, the molecules are just lined up by the magnetization so they no longer clump together. This effect lasts for 72 hours which should be time for your hot water tank to empty and refill several times over. You would still need a filter to get the minerals out of your drinking water.
I used an extension cord, works fine
NO! Per the manual it can only be installed on PVC/PEX/CPVC/Copper pipes. You can replace a section with CPVC for example and wrap the coil on that CPVC section, but if the coil is wrapped on Galvanized it will not work. Please give our technical department a call at 727-562-5186 to dive deeper in.
Manufacturer recommends installing after the water filtration. That's how I installed the unit, and it works great.
Well logically it seems it should not accomplish much in that regard; but if it is freeing up the scale inside pipes and fittings that should result in adding these freed up minerals to the water flowing from the system; this should cause an increase in water hardness, at least initially. After a period, when the pipes are clean, it would seem there would be little or no effect on the chemical composition. Whether the taste and smell of water is more pronounced with the smaller ions or the larger coagulated particles would need additional study.
