Product Overview

Calmat is a unique water treatment system that solves hard water problems without using chemicals or salt. Calmat works totally maintenance-free and is very simple to install, no tools or plumbing are needed. Calmat is an eco-friendly solution that protects the piping system and appliances against scale deposits and rust removing existing deposits. Calmat prolongs the lifespan of household appliances; less time and money spent on repairs and maintenance in your home. Calmat offers considerable savings in washing and cleaning agents and protects against lime-scale deposits on shower heads, sinks and faucets. The Calmat exclusive Electric-Impulse-Technology is based on the principle of physical water treatment; changing the crystallization process of the liquid calcium and this way the hard scale loses its adhesive power. Calmat works independently from the water velocity like other systems that use magnetic fields do. Calmat is suitable for all pipe materials.

Calmat removes the existing limescale and rust deposits and prevents accumulation from your whole piping system. It perfectly works on both well and city water. Calmat will treat water up to 59 GPG or 1000 PPM hardness.

Is it OK TO USE ON PLASTIC PIPE AND PVC?

Asked by Kansas February 12, 2020

Using this device on plastic or pvc pipes should be just fine. The electric magnetic field created by the device is strong enough that the pvc/plastic pipe should have little to no affect on its effectiveness. Here is a scientific paper where they actually used pvc over copper pipes for testing the affects of a magnetic fields on tap water. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2211379717317230 I would double check with the manufacturer, but should be fine.

Yes, it should treat the water from the point of installation on. Mine is also installed in my wellhouse about 60 foot from the house. Have only had mine about 2 months so I haven't really noticed a difference yet in scale buildup.

Only had in place for about three weeks so I assume it is working as advertised. Will talke six months or more to confirm. "Unit is not suited to be out side so I had to reroute the water line into hopuse and again back outside" Still have to finish painting. Very easy to install once plementary work is completed.

I purchased this Calmat water treatment system in June 2018 with some skepticism, but knew I could return it if it didn’t work. A salt system was not an option for me due to health concerns, so this has worked out great for me. I did not have a place to install it at the water supply entrance to my house because my house is built on a slab with all plumbing inside the concrete. The best I could do was put it at the top my water heater in my laundry room, mounted on the incoming cold water side. I suspected this thing was beginning to work within a few days of installation and thought at first it was my imagination, but the water felt more slippery. Like one of the other reviewers, I also placed 'test' water droplets on my countertop, and checked for scale after the water evaporated. No scale, just a little powder that wiped off readily. Little by little, the lime scale became less and less. To move things along, I did clean some of the remaining scale off of things, then kept checking to make sure it didn’t return. The removal was much easier, because it kind of just chipped off. I love it! I am totally amazed! I went from having to wipe my bathroom sink each time it was used to avoid scale buildup, to only cleaning it as normal. My coffe pot and the glass I fill it with are completely scale free. I no longer have to soak and descale my faucet heads. Couldn’t be more pleased and would highly recommend for anyone bothered by scale buildup, to give it a try. I am in no way connected with Calmat or Home Depot, just an ordinary customer very happy with a product.

This device has worked very well at reducing the scale and calcium buildup. It is especially noticeable on things like my coffee pot. The faucets and fixtures seem to stay more clean as well. I believe that this is helping reduce the buildup in my water heater and WaterFurnace and therefore extending their lives. After installing I slowly reduced the settings on our water softener every few weeks to see if we would notice any effect. When about 1/3 the former settings we started seeing rust and discoloration in the toilet bowls. So I bumped up the settings to about 40% of previous and we don't see any rust. My objective was to at least reduce the amount of salt that was being used each month. This device has done that. Now we use less than half what was used before. From 80-100 lbs a month to less than 40 lbs. We can't totally do without the softener though, I would have given a 5 rating for that. We live in NE Indiana. The water hardness is measured at 27.

Bought but not installed yet. The only place outside wall is where the pressure valve is. Do you think the is enough real estate to install before and after the 90 degree bend? See pics. Or do I need to cut into the drywall? Thanks

Our water is not hard enough to necessitate a full water softener system, but it is hard enough to leave deposits on all the water fixtures in the house. In looking at an easy solution to this problem, I came across the Calmat device while researching another product. The Calmat had much better reviews so I figured I would give this a try first. Installation was simple. It only took about 30 minutes to install with the bulk of time spent twisting the copper wire around the pipe. My piping was up against a cinderblock wall, so my knuckles did donate some skin to the cause. Programming was simple as there are only two questions that need to be answered, language and what size pipe you are using. After that, it just does its thing. I have had this product installed for about a week and wondered how to find a way to measure the performance of this product before the return policy passed. While trying to figure it out, I was pleasantly surprised when the answer was right in front of me. We use stainless pots and pans for cooking. After my wife washes them, she usually leaves them in the drain board to dry. Not a big deal, but it usually leaves water spots on the stainless. The other night I went to put a pot away and noticed that there was not one water spot left on it. I thought maybe it was a fluke, so I didn't put much weight into the fact that it could be the Calmat in action. Used the same pot again and there were the exact same results as the previous time, a mirror finish with no water spots. I was pleasantly surprised to see our investment was paying off. Only time will tell if all of the other advertised features come into play. So, even after a week, I would not hesitate to recommend this product. It definitely seems to do something to the dissolved solids in the water. Is it as good as a full water softener system, probably not. Will it work if your water is not hard enough to necessitate a full softener system, I would say yes.

The Calmat anti-scale treatment device is truly amazing. I have already recommended it to my friends, family and neighbors. The hardest part of my installation was running power to the device, since power outlets are limited in my basement. The actual Calmat installation took 15 minutes. Within two weeks the hard scale buildup on faucets started to soften and fall off (or was easily brushed off). Water spots on sinks and fixtures are virtually gone. Shampoo use and laundry detergent use is down about 1/3. Water spots on vehicles (from washing) are gone!

East to install!
This descaler works with all typs of pipe, I'm using it on galvanized. I wasn't sure whether it was making a difference, so I have been leaving water drops on my fawcet... No spots! My skin doesn't feel sticky after showers either. I think it's working.

Best water treatment device in market
I installed the device 2 weeks ago. I could not find any exposes water pipe near the main shut off valve. So, I cut the dry wall nearby the valve and found 1" copper pipe. The device is outside of wall and two activation cables were wrapped around pipes inside of drywall. Two day after installation the water stain was dramatically dropped. The main advantage is that the scale is easily to be removed. Otherwise, I have to use vinegar to do it. After 2 weeks the smell and taste of water are much better than before. I wish I would install Calmat 3 years ago. Compare to other two kinds of salt and non-salt water conditioner or softener. This is the best--- price, quality, size and installation.
