A: I personally would not use this type of electrical box for a ceiling fan. This box is not designed to hold the weight of a ceiling fan. There are electrical boxes available to support the weight of ceiling fans.

Q:I need to know what size screws to buy to screw into the openings on the edge of the box? Do these take machine screw threads or sheet metal threads? It would have been nice if this would have been listed in the product specifications.

A: This part number is a 3 in. Box. For 4 in. you would want our B520 series. B520A-UPC or B520AR-UPC depending on the amount you need.
