Q:Does this require newer wires with a higher temperature rating, e.g., 90 degrees? I have a 1981 house and am limited to fixtures that fire hazards because they run hotter than my old wiring can handle.

          Worked Great!
One of the ceiling fans in our house had the light fixture fall off & was damaged beyond repair. I needed a way to make the fan the primary light source again. I took off the metal protection plate on the bottom & replaced it with one of these. The screw holes were identical, only took 10 min. Popped in a bulb we use for our recessed lighting... Viola... a fixed light source for less than $3.

600-Watt 250-Volt Outlet Box Lampholder, White review - good product and easy to install. You might want to add some washers also depending on your installation needs. Good quality and no problems installing. Might be really cool if it came in some really bold colors to accent the ceiling? Anyhow, easy to put in and works fine. No issues encountered. There ya go!

This is the classic porcelain light bulb fixture that has been used for decades. They're obviously not for the main living areas of your home, but I use them for cheap and easy light fixtures in the crawlspace or garage. All you need is a standard round box to mount them to. I would not recommend using expensive or CFL bulbs in these, since it's fairly easy to accidentally run into the bulb and break it. They have two screws on each wiring terminal so it's easy to connect them in the middle or at the end of a wiring run. There is a plastic version as well - the plastic version is probably more durable. With the porcelain version, be sure not to screw it in too tightly or you may crack it.
