A:  It may block some water penetration but it’s main purpose is to improve and strengthen grout porosity preventing dirt from discoloring grout. Intended to be used when first mixing grout. After grout has completely dried-allow several days- then apply a quality grout sealer with a narrow paint brush. Let dry and recoat a second coat. That should be enough, however put a few drops of clean water on grout line and if it “beads” up then you have a good seal. Depending on wear, repeat application when water no longer beads.

A:  This would replace 1 quart of the water. It works well. I used it for my project 4 years ago and the grout still looks clean and new.

A:  The installation manual available for download on this products page on HD website states that 32oz of this stain blocker is used instead of water to be mixed with 25lbs of poly blend grout. In the manual are other mixing ratios for smaller quantities of grout. However, if you want to stretch it to reduce cost you could mix 50% max or less with water but you will not get maximum stain block that this product offers. To really max your protection you can carefully cover the dried grout lines with another stainblocker made for that purpose. Best to use as directed as a water substitute. I have found that you must use the best quality of grout for uniform color.

A:  I wouldn't use it at all. Changed color of grout entirely once cured. I used it exactly as directions instructed. Clean up was also worse. I will never use this product again...

A:  Hi Tony. Thank you for your question. The Custom Building Products StainBlocker 32 oz. Additive for Grout is added to your grout mix as you are mixing the grout with water.
