A: It would work for a while. My concern would be as it cures/dries if it cracks and opens a gap you’ll have a leak. I’d buy something that stays flexible and sticky.

A: OCOrygun,
Yes this product will work to bond or seal new shingles to an existing asphalt roof. I hve used it to repair the shingles on the asphalt shingles on my shed. I had a couple that were torn off and I was able to find the torn off shingles and use the sealant to glue them back in place. Can't even tell where they were torn off. I have also used this to seal around areas on mt roof where water could penetrate. Should do what your asking and more.
Hope this helps.

A: In my experience, this product is akin to using cheap painters caulk instead of quality elastomeric sealant. It just doesn't hold up to multiple freeze and thaw cycles. May I suggest another product available at Home Depot: 208R Rubberized Wet Patch 10.1 oz. Roof Cement Leak Repair. There is also a new product for roofing repairs and sealing by Liquid Nails.

A: Thank you for posting your inquiry. While one application is usually sufficient for normal joint/gap filling, for deeper joints ~1/4” or more, two or more layers (with a minimum 24-hour drying interval between applications) can be done. Of note: The maximum fill depth should not exceed 3/8". Second applications can also be made to "touch up" missed areas, low areas or for better cosmetic appearance. Should you have any additional questions or require further assistance, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477.

A: Yes, I would not recommend pulling up the area the seam was in. If these are for spots close to the seam, then it should adhere to any areas that you may have already put the sealant.
