Answer This Question

A:  Yes it can. I would also get a screen to tape over the 3" inch hole. Once dry sand down and re-apply. Then sand a second time. Good for painting or staining at that point.

A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry. DAP Plastic Wood-X is designed/recommended for minor cosmetic repairs on natural wood, such as: nail/screw holes, dents/dings etc. When filling a small diameter hole with significant depth, it would be recommended to fill (plug) the hole (~1/4" below the finished surface) with wooden dowel rod (glued in place), then apply the wood filler to the final level (flush to the wood surface being repaired). Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry. As silicone and its residue is classified as a "bond breaker" (a surface which will not permit proper product adhesion), we cannot recommend the DAP Plastic Wood-X All-Purpose Wood Filler for this use case. Should you have additional questions or require further assistance, please feel free to contact DAP Technical Customer Service at 888-327-8477. Since you have posted this same question on multiple product pages, we have replied to those with the same response.

A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry. DAP Plastic Wood-X would be appropriate for this type or project/repair. As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: "For larger and deeper holes, apply thin layers to build up thick sections. Allow wood filler to dry before applying next layer." Should you have any additional questions or require further assistance, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477.

A:  Yes. it is ok. I had bought it, put it on and it rained after 48 hours. I painted it few days later. It is ok now, but if you use anything heavy on it, it starts to crack.

A:  The filler can get reactivated with water. Too much rain may cause it to run or deform, but a sprinkle should not affect it as long as you let it fully dry prior to painting. It dries fairly quickly in decent weather and temperature. You could also spot paint it with a primer, once dried, prior to doing a full paint job at a later date.

A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry. DAP Plastic Wood (All Versions) is not internally water resistant, accordingly, it must be protected from moisture. A:  I have used this product and recommend it as a wood filler. The question asked is most likely addressed on the products container. However, I would only apply a wood filler on an item that is exposed to rain when it will not be raining until the filler has hardened and I have applied a protective coating like paint or stain.

A:  I don't think so. You need to ask the company, if it is food safe. But I think that it is way to soft to be cut on. I just use it to fill holes in wooden moldings.

A:  Before painting I would think so. Just sand smooth with the surface and you should not be able to tell where the patch is after painting. I used on a deck with solid stain. Holds up to weather and heat just fine. So you can use it around a sink or dishwasher without worry. Goes on pink, tan color when dry.

A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry on DAP Plastic Wood-X All-Purpose Latex Wood Filler. Providing that the filler is still pliable, a small volume of water may be added to until a smooth/even texture/consistency is achieved (original texture when new/fresh). If that procedure is not effective, it typically indicates that the product is no longer viable/usable. Based on your description of the texture/consistency of the product, it is likely that the material would not be able to be reconstituted and would need to be discarded. Should you have any additional questions or require further assistance, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477.

A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry. While DAP Plastic Wood (All Versions) can be stained and clear coated, undetectable repairs/applications are not realistic. The only finishing methods that ensure an undetectable repair, would be the application of an opaque coating, such as paint and certain solid stains. Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please feel free to contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477.

A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry. DAP Plastic Wood-X All-Purpose Wood Filler could likely be used for the application as described. Depending on the size of the repair and the fasteners that you intend to drive into the wood filler, drilling pilot holes prior to driving your wood screws may be necessary (much like drilling a pilot hole in solid wood prior driving a wood screw, to prevent cracking/splitting). At your convenience, please contact DAP's Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 so that we can obtain some additional information regarding your project and to provide you with more specific/detailed usage guidance.
