Answer This Question
A: I would suggest a carbide bit for cast iron
by|Nov 12, 2020
A: Yes they're very good at drilling into metal.
by|Jun 12, 2020
A: When properly lubricated, they can drill through mild steel. If the cast iron is ductile iron or malleable iron, given the graphite content of those irons, you may be able to get away without a lubricant. That said, lubricate if you can.
by|May 18, 2020
A: It might depend on how many holes you want to drill. Cast iron is not very hard, but the bit will get hot if you are doing many holes.

A: Yes, start w/ a small bit (using something like "Tap Magic" to keep the bits cool)- keep steady pressure on the drill- not too fast or it will overheat and ruin the bit

A: If it's a "hammer drill bit" (made for drilling concrete) it will fit - but it won't be worth the effort to try to drill concrete - concrete requires the "Hammer action" to drill concrete
