Answer This Question
A: They are individual tiles (not glued together, and no mesh). Start with a bottom row, applying each tile, then work upwards, row by row.

A: They are securely attached together into a 12" X 12" mat. Each tile is about 2" X 4" with a 1/8" gap for grout.

Q:How do I make sure all my product ( including the bullnose) is from the same lot and will be a uniform color? Bought one sheet and a single bullnose tile in store from stock on the shelf to test and they are not identical white.

A: The only solution to assure you do not have this problem is to buy all the tile at one time. Finish the project and return the leftover tile.
The picture included is of subway tile not bullnose.

Q:Can these subway tiles be applied to a laminate existing backsplash that has been cleaned and oil free and sanded and wiped down ready for tiles? What would you use to put them up on laminate if you can apply to laminate?

A: Alice, the laminate will at least need to be significantly roughed up to ensure anything will stay adhered to it. You would really hate for the tile to delaminate in the future. Even slight amounts will cause the grout to crack and crumble. There are two options. (1) A long-term lasting solution is as follows. What I have done for clients is to apply 1/4” cement board over the laminate. I attach the cement board with both construction adhesive and screws after the countertop has been cleaned with acetone. ** Read, understand an follow the directions on the can.
Alternately, you can aggressively sand the laminate with 60 grit sandpaper. Then vacuum up ALL of the dust. Then apply two coats of “Red Guard” and tile as usual. You will probably only add 2 hours of work by choosing the first option. Good luck and have fun.

A: It would be better to remove the laminate. It is considered a low energy substrate so getting things to stick and stay is tough. Traditional tile mastics will have trouble adhering much less also adhering the tile.
A solvent based adhesive might work but I would be worried about long term durability and the adhesive becoming brittle in warm areas especially around areas like a stove

A: I've done it and it worked just fine. I did use a rotary sander with heavy duty sand paper to prepare the laminate. The counter needs to be very stable and seams need to be filled and sanded flat. Find videos on YT for tips.
