Q:Is this safe to use in a woodstove?

Answer This Question

A:  I don't know about a woodstove, but I use this in my Weber Grill with absolutely no problems. It burns clean with no odor and no residue.

by|May 5, 2023

A:  YES, that is where I am using them.

    by|Oct 23, 2018

A:  Yes - But it may depend on your stove. I've read where it's suggested that you don't, however we've used them to start fires in ours for years with no problems, no negative results to the stove. We have it cleaned and maintained by a professional chimney sweep and he sees no problem in using them. We love them (-:

          Answer This Question

A:  Should be fine as the product is wood and wax based and the striking edge is just like a match. So I'd assume it is much safer than storing lighter fluid as it has no odor or vapors.

A:  YES, keep them in their container to not dry out too quickly.

            by|Oct 23, 2018

A:  This a box of oversized, long-burning kitchen matches. While Home Depot keeps stacks of them on their (climate controlled) retail shelves, you should never store ANYTHING this flammable in your garage, especially during the hot summer. Like paint thinner, full gas cans, etc. I keep my flammables out in a shed in a lidded Behrens 6 gallon steel trash can (at $15 from Home Depot, that's cheap fire prevention).

A:  They are like stick matches, store accordingly

            by|Jan 8, 2019

A:  Hi Maya. As long as your storage area is dry and not damp, your garage will be an acceptable area to store your Diamond Strike-A-Fire Firestarter. They are basically a larger version of the Diamond wooden stick matches. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Rick_HD_OC

A:  What??? they don't have this stuff in Bellingham, if at any place, there should be several cases at the Bellingham store because they have a bigger better winter then I do in Puyallup.

A:  I feel the work better and burn longer if you light the match itself. Striking it on the box does not work well.

Q:Are these sticks safe for a pizza oven brick floor? Do they leave a residue that will stick to the fire brick? I assume they are food contact safe.

A:  I use these to light my indoor wood stove. I'm extremely sensitive to petrol products and these don't bother me at all - no chemical scent to them.
