      A:  Whatever the ID of the male pipe thread is the cap should correspond with it, IE 3/8 MPT uses 3/8 FEP, 1/2", 3/4", 1" all follow suite, M and F describe male or female fittings, female "goes on too" male "Goes into!"

              A:  This "cap", it's an adapter (3/8"MIP x 3/8"Flare). The outside dimension (across flat hexagon) is 0.687".
