Q:Can this be use as a stub-out for a tub spout?
by|Oct 10, 2019

Answer This Question
A: For this application, it depends on how the plumbing was run from the valve to the stub out and how the tub spout attaches (threaded vs Slip on). Also the tub spout will determine how far out of the wall the stub out needs to be as many manufactures have different requirements. While 1/2” is very common there are some systems that use other sizes (ex. 3/4”).

A: As long as the working pressure is less than 125 PSI and it is not in ground contact it will work.

A: It works but with pvc it’s super easy to cross thread or strip out the plastic. Don’t over tighten or the fitting will strip or crack your pvc.

A: Yes, the only time you have to be cautious is potable (drinking) water. Make sure there is no lead in the metal makeup of the pipe. Also, support every thing because the cutting of threads weakens the nipple.
