Questions and Answers for Foundation Armor 1 gal. Penetrating Solvent Based Silane Siloxane Concrete Sealer and Masonry Water Repellent

A:  Hi! This product can't be tinted, but we have a few other options. The WL550 is also a penetrating sealer, but it will slightly enhance the color of the substrate (wet look). If you are sealing concrete or pavers, the AR350 and AR500 can be tinted with a semi transparent brown or gray, or with one of several opaque colors. A:  The SX5000 can be used on unsealed, exposed aggregate concrete. The SX5000 is a natural looking water/salt guard that's best applied with an acetone resistant sprayer(fitted with EPDM seals example: Armor Sprayer).

A:  If the surface can absorb some water, it's possible to apply a light touch-up coat with the SX5000WB. Applying a heavy coat or multiple coats is not advised because it's highly likely that some of the 40 SB VX is still in the patio pores. If needed, run a small test area and if the SX5000WB dries natural looking, you are good to go.

A:  The solvent based SX5000 needs to be applied with an acetone resistant sprayer such as the Armor Sprayer. A sprayer with a 1/2 gallon per minute nozzle and EPDM rubber seals and hose will prevent a sprayer from failing prematurely. You could opt for the SX5000WB water based which can be applied with a garden pump sprayer. These products are ready to apply(no dilution).

A:  A 3M respirator from a local hardware store with filters rated for organic solvent is good if you don't want to smell the acetone with the SX5000 solvent. An acetone resistant sprayer with EPDM rubber seals and hose is recommended. The sprayer should have a 1/2 gallon per minute(GPM) adjustable cone nozzle or fan tip. One example would be the Foundation Armor sprayer. The SX5000WB water based version can be applied with a cheap garden pump sprayer from the local hardware store and has little to no odor.

A:  On a porous surface such as brick or brushed concrete, a gallon usually covers around 100 square feet with two coats. If the surface is less porous, the coverage could go up to 150 square feet per gallon with two coats or on extremely dense surfaces 300+ square feet with one coat.

A:  The SX5000 may help with micro-fractures that appear closed but it's not a crack repair product.

A:  It's best to let the mortar set up for at least a week(longer for cool weather).
