A: There are 2 pieces in the package each 8.5 feet long totaling 17 ft. If it were one continuous piece, it would tend to get creases in certain areas and not provide an adequate seal.

A: Yes it is waterproof when exposed to rain and snow. It will not hold up underwater as the adhesive will eventually let go and prevent the tape from sealing properly.

Q:The package says it can seal a 1/8? gap. How do you compress the 1/4? depth to 1/8??

A: When placed on the door frame or window frame or the upper or lower edge of the sashes of the window, the foam is 1/4" thick. As the door or window closes on the foam it will compress to the 1/8" thickness.

A: Yes. BUT and this is a big BUT, the foam will start to deteriorate, become stiff, etc. It might be able to be stained because this is a foam product. I doubt that doing any of this would be deferential to the function of the product.
