Q:Would this work under an exterior door? It's an old French door into the porch, but there's an overhang, so it gets some protection from rain and snow.

A: I think this material is too lightweight and the adhesive too weak for an exterior door application. I'd recommend something purpose built as a door sweep/seal that screws on.

A: It probably wont seal as tight as you need. The best sealer would be a Frost King Door Sweep or Door Bottom.

Answer This Question
A: It really depends on the size of gap you are needing to seal.

A: Yes, it is a compression type seal. It should be mounted so closing the windows compresses it.
Application where there is friction will not work well. That could wear out the seal and tear the adhesive loose.
Overall easy application and a positive deal!

A: Yes. You have to clean the area very well. I sprayed 70% Isopropyl over my gloss painted doors and it stayed in place. Also as a backup I purchased adhesive spray.

A: Yes, I put this weatherstripping on when it was about 50 degrees out where I have a wrapped steel door and a metal storm door. It's sticking just fine.

Q:Can this product be used to replace weatherstripping in a 1/8" wide channel on a patio sliding glass door? The package says, "5/16 in wide X 1/4 in thick X 17 feet long" and "Fills gaps from 1/4" down to 1/8".

A: Yes
by|Nov 15, 2019
A: No, this will not fit correctly into you gap since the adhesive would be on the wrong side.

A: No, way too thick, and will now contract easily. I think they make a smaller version. Or, get the rubber foam by Frosty King and cut that.

A: If you're installing it in a spot where there are going to be surfaces sliding across the tape, this is not the right product for your situation. It can only get down to 1/8" when a door closes on it and compresses it. It is 5/16" wide.

Q:Is this D-cell weatherstrip tape waterproof and compressible enough to be used to seal under the edge of a drop-in sink?

Answer This Question
A: Silicone caulk should be used for that. Not weatherstripping.
by|Jun 10, 2021
A: I used the tape on the front door to virtually eliminate any air flow.
by|Jan 8, 2019
A: I'm not sure it wouldhold up very long and even when smashed down it would leave a large gap.

A: The Frosty King Terhmoplastic is waterproof, but I'm not sure about this. Not sure about the under side of the drop-in sink. Probably? Would need to measure.
by|Jan 31, 2019
A: This product will not compress enough to be used for your sink seal. Caulk is the best method here for sealing a sink against a countertop.

Q:I have read a few reviews of this product and my concern is that when I put it on is it going to stay on. Seems that there may have been a few batches of this product where the stickyness of the strip was not very good. I am really interested in buying this but need to be sure that the adhesion problem has been corrected. Thank you.

A: Worked for me, no problem.

A: The adhesion is decent however some times the leading or trailing end lifts. When this occurs just put a dab of crazy glue to hold the very end and the rest will stay where placed.
by|Feb 18, 2020
A: Purchased one, and it does not stick. There is a tension due to the way the tape is rolled, it tries to curve away from the surface. After putting it in, the tape curved and the adhesive strip could not even hold it.
I tried to attach it to the wood. I really had to press hard, and pulling it was too easy. I do not recommend this.

A: Pull plastic tape off back press on surface @ cut.
by|Feb 3, 2019
A: Cut to length, clean surface where it will be applied, remove backing tape and press onto the area you want sealed.
by|Jun 10, 2021
A: The package explains exactly where to place the tape around the door, which is usually on the door stop on the latch and top side. On windows, place on the bottom of the bottom sash and on the top of the top sash.
