      Answer This Question

A:  They do a reasonable job. It’s hard to find anything that won’t eventually corrode a bit (even stainless steel). These are the industry standard for carpet over concrete. You do need a vapor barrier subfloor and carpet pad or at least a vapor barrier carpet pad.

A:  For best results in this environment: Industry Standard: Aluminum carpet strips are recommended for carpet installations where water/ moisture may cause damage to wooden tack strip.

            Answer This Question

A:  Better question is how much linear feet does it cover. You need to hammer these down onto the perimeter of the room, so you need to know the linear feet of the perimeter.

            by|Jun 6, 2022

A:  This pack has 3x 4ft tack strips so it will cover 12 linear feet. Measure the perimeter of the room and divide by 12 to determine the quantity of these you will require. Allow for waste and purchase 1 or 2 extra packs in case you have drops or double up in high traffic areas.

Q:Do I need to pre drill holes into concrete with a rotohammer or are they meant to be nailed directly into conrete?

                  Answer This Question

A:  I believe these are equipped with concrete nails and I used a 5lb hand sledge hammer to set them. If it is old concrete, you can used a Roto-hammer to pre-drill and attach them with blue Tap-con screws.

A:  I tried nailing them directly into the concrete and it just chipped the concrete or bent the nail.

A:  You can likely drive those directly into a concrete floor with a standard 16oz claw hammer. If you have extremely hard concrete, causing the strips to wobble or not be secure, you could run a (small) bead of liquid nail on the back of the strips and let it set up before again attempting to drive the nails.

A:  They’re meant to Neil directly into the concrete however the nails are so skinny you need to pick up 5/8 concrete nails Because the nails and the tax strip pool just bend when you try to hammer them unless it’s a really soft concrete
