A:  Thanks for your question. The wood grate refers to the metal grate the firewood sits on.

A:  Even though it has a nice cover to prevent embers from flying out, it is really not all that deep.  I would suggest getting a fire pit that is deeper for burning paper.

A:  Thanks for your question. Although not meant for burning papers, it will work, but we'd recommend just a few at a time.

A:  Thanks for your question, and our apology for the delay. The lower ring diameter is slightly over 20", 20.1" to be exact. Hope this helps.

A:  It is to the top of the cover when cover is placed on the bowl.

A:  That measurement is to the top of the cover.

A:  Thanks for your question. This is unsafe to use on a wooden deck, so should not be used.

A:  Highly advised against doing that as it will most likely damage your wood from the heat.

A:  Well you could but that doesn't mean you should. I would even say you shouldn't. If you want to have a fire pit on a deck get a propane and glass beads one. Keeps the heat away from flammable decking.

A:  Probably not a good idea. Try to build a better fire?

A:  You could try...up to you.

A:  I wouldn't recommend it. There are gas fire pits that are better suited for a propane kit. I bought my fire pit as a gift, so I never assembled it so I really can say one way or another.
