Sound control underlayment is optional. If you choose to use sound control underlayment, we recommend you use a less compressive material. A:  I am going to assume yes, but I have noticed that they will bring it back. The only difference is they will change the tongue and groove so the new boards can't snap into the old boards. They have done this in the past.
