Q:I bought and installed a 50 micron filter last year at my summer home. I do winterize by draining everything. Looking at the filter this year there seem to be rust on the filter and glass cover. I would like to put in a new filter and a new rubber gasket

A: Hi Craig,
The part number for the new screen is FWSP50 and the O-ring is ORW for the housing O-ring. The new FWSP50 screen will include the small O-ring on the screen. Please call the office @ 678-801-9308 if you have any questions.

Q:Hello, can this filter be used as a post filter on a Pentair Pelican Dual-stage 10-GPM Carbon Block Whole House Water Filtration System to catch any carbon particles? If yes, which grain would you recommend? Thank you.

Answer This Question
A: Hi Areku,
This system is a pre-filter that normally would be installed before a whole house system. It is not designed to be installed as a post filter. Carbon particles would be too small or would pass through this system.

Q:We purchased this filter, the WSP 100, and had it installed professionally by our plumber. This was on January 10, and it has been drained twice. We are experiencing a massive increase in sediment coming into our faucets. Can you explain why this?

A: It sounds like you experienced this after the trap had been installed so I’m not sure they answered your question. Anyway, this could be caused by your filtered water now having more capacity to pick up whatever has built up in your pipes.

A: Hi Laurie,
Depending on the size of the sediment coming into the home you may need a different size screen such as the 50 micron for better protection.

Q:Would this filter be effective to filter out non-soluble iron particles in my city supplied well water if I place it prior to the inlet to my water softener? I want to prevent iron particles from ruining the softener resin bed.

Answer This Question
A: Hi RJ37,
Iron is normally dissolved in the water so a sediment filter will not catch the Iron unless it is in the form of rust particles if the Iron precipitates. We would recommend to have your well water tested as you may need an Iron removing filter system.

This system is NOT recommended to be installed after a hot water heater as the hot water will melt the plastic housing.
