A:  The instruction calls for a 1-1/4" dia. hole. However, it comes with a Stainless Steel washer that is used if the hole is 1-3/8" or 1-1/2". If your hole is 1-1/4" dia., you do not need to use the Stainless Steel washer.

A:  Hi Mary, thanks for your question. In general, we do not test our products for compatibility with other products, so we cannot speak to the expected performance when used together. For best results, we recommend you use InSinkErator parts and accessories with InSinkErator units.

            by|Feb 11, 2022

A:  Yes, you have to use the provided switch. With this item, air is used to energize the outlet to send electricity to the disposal and the provided switch (button) is needed to activate the flow of air. This type of disposal switch is typically used when there is not a wall behind the sink area (like on a kitchen island) as, in that configuration, there is no place to install a electrical wall box to mount a standard (electrical, not air) disposal switch.

A:  Hi Chris, the Sink-Top Air Switch Kit is just an alternative to a wall switch. You can still use your current wall switch.

A:  Hi James, we’re sorry to hear about your unusual experience. The screws in the switch box are custom and not designed to be replaced. If it’s missing, the SinkTop Switch requires replacement. This product includes a 1-year over-the-counter warranty (may return to the store where purchased).

                    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Stan, thank you for your question. The hose coming out of the switch box is the air tube. When the button is pressed, the Sink Top Switch sends a pulse of air down the air tube and triggers the remote switch and activates the disposer.

A:  Hi Brandon! The Dual Outlet Sink-Top Air Switch is designed for InSinkErator garbage disposer and InSinkErator Instant Hot Water Dispenser. It allows a disposer to be air-activated by pressing a counter or sink-mounted button as an alternative to a wall switch. Check out this link on how it works: https://bit.ly/3q5lUFA.

A:  Yes it can be mounted through face of cabinet as long as there is adequate room, it may have to be mounted to left or right of sink so the sink does not interfere with hose connection.

A:  I don't see why not. It can be mounted as far as the air tube will reach.

A:  Both outlets respond to the switch. The switch is intended to be used with an intermittently run unit, like a garbage disposal, and the Insinkerator hot water dispenser. When the button is pressed, and the garbage disposal is run, the hot water heater is briefly turned off, while the disposal runs. When the garbage disposal is turned off after a few seconds, the hot water heater comes back on, and there is no noticeable interruption in hot water service.

A:  Hi Ben, the Power module's outlets are controlled by an internal alternate-action switch. This means either one or the other outlet will be energized at all times. When you push the Sink Top Switch button, you switch electrical power between the two outlets on the power module. This feature allows a second appliance to be plugged in (such as an InSinkErator Instant Hot Water Dispenser) and momentarily interrupts its power to run the disposer. The power module automatically turns the second appliance back on when the disposer is switched off. I hope this helps. A:  Toggle switch, press to start the disposal and it temporarily interrupts power to the hot water dispenser. Press again and it turns off the disposal and returns power to the hot water dispenser. It's one of my favorite things in the kitchen and not just because it saved me having to run a new circuit.
