A:  One is NOT going to give you needed coverage. I'd suggest four. One centered on each side with 180 deg coverage. A garden hose is a bad idea. It won't last. PVC is much better.

A:  Why not just buy a nice (above ground) oscillating sprinkler, attach a hose and leave it in place? Most are very good at covering rectangular areas and can be adjusted. The K-Rain (and ALL sprinklers of this type) emit an uneven spray pattern and are normally installed two or four at a time with an overlapping spray pattern to compensate. A single spray head will likely water your yard very unevenly. Burying a garden hose may work, but it's not designed for that. Besides, the "male hose thread" at the end of the hose is different from the "3/4" female pipe thread" on the K-Rain and it will probably leak a lot.

A:  Middle would be best. There are three low angle nozzles which will work perfectly for this. Still might hit past 30 ft side if head is set to 25 ft. (Exceed by 10 ft on 30 ft side. Best would be to put two heads in opposite corners set at 90 deg low angle nozzle with small gpm.

Q:Why is it not available in the store?

A:  I bought mine online too. The store manager can elect to have them in the store, but they do not seem to want to do it. I bought 50 of them for 1-1/2 acre. The adjustment of numerous settings and 8 to 10 different nozzles available made these usable in just about all areas except my landscaping areas near the house. I am on a well also. Using nozzles allows me to adjust water flow so well will not cycle off and on.

A:  I ORDERED THREE OF THESE HEADS ONLINE AND HAD THEM SHIPPED (FREE) TO MY LOCAL STORE FOR PICKUP AND HAD THEM WITHIN A WEEK.

        by|May 5, 2023

A:  My experience has been the local store I deal with seems to always have this unit available. I purchased two less than a month ago. My recommendation is to press the manager of the location you do business with to get you product. You can also order on line and have it shipped to your store for pick up with no freight charge.

A:  ok, as long as you avoid the throw on the structure (house) as the hard water will mess up the paint job over time

A:  They provide EXCELLENT service life with rusty well water.... After 18-20 years, I have only needed to replace 6 or so heads . I have recently noticed that the moving head speed has become very slow on several more with the build up of well water rust staining/depositing on the gear guts. Time to R & R the entire system of 20 heads in 5 zones. I am now ordering 2 Boxes, 20 heads to replace ALL of the K2 soldiers that have given me exceptional service these past 20 years. P.S. Remember you only need to change out the "guts" and not have to replace the entire can...... F Y I....

A:  I am on well water too. My previous house had a well with a lot of calcium. These never clogged on me. I just chopped one up with my mower and it upset me a lot. Did not notice the tires on riding mower were underinflated. Mowed way too short. Not too smart.

A:  I am using these totally now as opposed to the other brands. They are easier to install and adjust. I have not had to replace any of them so far. I've been using them for about 4 to 5 years.

A:  I have 8 irrigation zones using this unit. The water source is a deep well with typically hard water. Some of the of the heads have been installed over 6 years with no failures associated with hard water conditions.

A:  I'm in Florida and mine are running off of a well. Not sure how HARD my water is, but i'm on the east coast near the ocean and we have a lot of iron/sulfur that definitely takes a toll on ALL sprinklers. These sprinklers have worked well over the past 10 years and I do my best to replace any broken ones with K2 due to their ease of setting degree/angle/distance.

A:  Possibly, but depending on water pressure / volume, keeping all the water within a 5 ft range may be difficult. There are a range of other nozzles available for this head.

A:  You should look into a pop-up spray not a gear drive for that short distance. The shortest throw on this gear drive is approx. 20 feet. The pop-up sprays have nozzles that can be changed out for shorter distance requirements.

A:  Mine are spraying about 25 feet. I don't see how they could be reduced to 5 feet and still function.

A:  These come with 8 different stream plug-ins. If you don't like the one it comes with, then you'll need to spend a little time replacing it with one you do like, but it's fairly simple. I generally find the default one to be fine.

A:  Notice the small set screw on the top of the sprinkler. Loosening or tightening the screw into the water stream changes the arc.

A:  You need to select the desired nozzle first and can adjust the distance with the small set screw.

A:  On the head of the sprinkler it indicates the maximum left arc. Turn the sprinkler head to establish the left side of the coverage. From there determine the movement right with the adjustment slot on top of the head indicating range for the right arc. The distance is adjustable with the ss screw on the top of the head.

A:  Yes. You set the arc with the arrow in the middle. Just point the arrow to what you need, 90, 180, 270 or 360. Or in between those patterns. Then you adjust the distance which is to the left of the pattern arrow. The distance should have come set to the farthest throw. Just put your key or small flat blade screwdriver in the slot and turn counterclockwise to reduce your distance.
