About This Product

This professional grade Rain Bird 42SA+ rotor sprinkler features superior durability plus exceptional watering uniformity of patented Rain Curtain nozzle technology, resulting in a greener and more even lawn with reduced watering time. The rotor distributes larger water droplets that cover evenly throughout the pattern, also reducing wind-blown overspray. Nozzle micro ramps direct a portion of the spray near the head, adding gentle close-in coverage with reduced watering velocity that won't wash out new seed. Simple top adjustments for arc and distance help you keep water on the grass, not spraying on the house, sidewalk or driveway. The rotor also features a rugged dual-action, positive stop wiper seal that protects internals from debris and, together with a heavy duty stainless steel spring, assures positive retraction for leak-free performance. It installs on a standard 3/4 in. riser for simple replacement of older rotors.

Highlights

  • Improve coverage consistency and reduce cycle times with this rotor's Rain Curtain nozzle technology that distributes water more evenly throughout the pattern

Q:why does water bubble up from Right Left adjustment port when shut off
    by|Jan 8, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  With Rain Bird rotors, you’ll see a short burst of water when they retract back into the ground at the end of a cycle. Its purpose is to flush out any dirt or debris that gets into the main water line or through the environment so the head doesn’t clog. Q:We need to replace a Rainbird 3500 sprinkler head? What Rainbird products will work?
        by|Jun 11, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  The Rain Bird 3500 Rotor features a 1/2" inlet, as does the Rain Bird 32SA, and both feature similar spray radius distances. One big difference is that the 3500 also features the SAM Seal-A-Matic™ check valve, which holds up to 7' of elevation change, while the 32SA does not. If you would like additional help with product selection, please feel free to contact our technical support at 1-800-RAIN BIRD (800-724-6247) and we’d be more than happy to assist.

Bought these to replace 3 of my existing heads and they right out the gate didn't fully work. They keep spraying water when the system is off. I would not recommend.

Response from Rain Bird MarketingApr 10, 2023
If your rotors won't stop running even when your controller is in the OFF position, it's likely due to a blocked or faulty valve or the solenoid is set to the "Manual On" position, which is why water would be coming from your main line and through to the sprinkler. On your valve, check the small ports for blockage by debris; rinse and inspect the diaphragm and diaphragm seat for dirt or damage. You may need to replace diaphragm if damaged. If you've checked the valve diaphragm and cleared any blockages, but the rotors still won't detract, the valve may be set in "Manual On" mode, which would raise the diaphragm and allow water to constantly pass through to the rotors. Depending on the valve model, you will need to be sure the solenoid is tightened into the full clockwise position ("Manual Off") or turn the bleed screw or knob on top of the valve clockwise to tighten. If you're still experiencing issues, we’d love to walk you through the steps to troubleshoot. Just reach out to our technical support at 1-800-RAIN BIRD (800-724-6247) so we can help.

I just spent a few thousand at Home Depot for my back yard in the last few weeks. As you can see I bought a lot of SOD & A lot of different beautiful trees. So what better and easier way to water my Great trees and SOD than Rainbird sprinklers. I bought 30 of them to connect to my piping and they are very easy to use. I've never done a back yard like this but here are some before and after pictures. Definitely a great product.

Moved into new (2005) home that needed a ton of work including replacing some sprinklers; this rain bird did the job perfectly! Original system had too many heads on the main line to the front yard and rather than tearing it all up (which will happen at a later date) we eliminated a few heads and put these long-shot pieces in. Great coverage and now the entire yard is greening back up!
