    Answer This Question

A:  If the 3 gallon bucket has a plastic lid, this tool should work. Thanks,

A:  I am a painter by trade. I use it on 5 gallon buckets of paint. It helps my older hands peel the flaps up on the lids. If the lid has flaps on the the sides, it will work.

A:  Just like every box store, Home Depot makes mistakes or items is out of stock. Did you contact customer service?. I have the same bucket opener tool, it works great. I bought mines over 8 years ago.

Q:SELL THIS IN THE STORE! Put it with the paint can keys! Otherwise you can't open the lid! I had to destroy a bucket.... FURIOUS! If you even can break the tabs, that warrants the lid not reusable!

A:  This really isn’t a question and I second what this person is saying. This item should be sold at the store.

A:  I would think so as long as there is a lip to get the hook under.

A:  Yes, I happen to have a square bucket and lid and although I don't normally have the lid on it, I did smack it down and then took it off with the tool. Worked fine.

A:  If the lid has a standard lip on it (like 3 or 5 gallon buckets do) then it will work. Thanks,

              A:  Yes

              by|Jan 14, 2020

A:  If, after removing the tear-away, there is a lip to catch with the tool then probably yes.

A:  It says in the description ‘designed to open 5-gallon buckets’. That’s all I’ve used it on. It’s $3. Buy one and try it.

A:  Since it is not designed for those types of containers (only paint buckets), we do not think it would work. Sorry,
