      Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for the question. Loctite Instant Mix 5-minute Epoxy may work fine when fully cured and used on surfaces that are properly cleaned before application of the product. However, this product does not work on all plastics such as polyethylene, polypropylene, non-stick coatings, nylon products, or flexible materials. Testing is recommended beforehand understanding that the intended use may be out of scope for this product since no other details are available.

A:  Dear Customer, thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot regarding the Loctite Instant Mix 0.47 fl. oz 5 Minute Epoxy (6-Pack). This product should work fine however, more suitable products for plastics would be Loctite Epoxy Plastic or the Loctite Plastics Bonder. These products will work on most plastics but not all such as polyethylene, polypropylene, non-stick coatings, nylon products or flexible materials. Hope this helps! -The Home Depot-

            Q:Does it work with HDPE?
            by|Mar 22, 2022

            Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for the question. Unfortunately, HDPE is known for being a difficult plastic to glue because of its “high abrasion resistance” and Loctite Instant Mix 5-minute Epoxy will not work on this material. Depending on the nature and size of your project or repair situation you might consider trying Loctite Plastics Bonding System which is designed for hard to bond plastics in small projects and repairs. Loctite does not offer a product for large projects involving HDPE.

                Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for the question, Lerissa. Using the Loctite Instant Mix 5-minute Epoxy is possible for this intended use as it bonds very well to marble assuming the area of burial will not be exposed to continuous water immersion or be continuously wet. Another alternative is a silicone such as the GE Silicone 2 Kitchen and Bath Clear available is a 2.8 fl. oz. squeeze tube.

                  Answer This Question

A:  You could but this epoxy is not as easy to apply in a neat line like silicone caulking. Be sure to clean up any excess before it fries and to make neat lines use a Dap Cap also sold at The Home Depot, you push it along the seams like a shovel to clean up the joints and remove any excess.
