Answer This Question

A:  At this time, Lutron does not have any dual wallbox controls capable of operating LED loads. One device per lighting circuit would be needed.

Q:I'm looking for a switch like this only with a fan and light that doesn't use a pull chain. I was frustrated to read this model only works with a pull chain fan and light.

A:  Sounds like the ceiling fan you have has a remote kit installed. Otherwise, how else would you control the fixture.

A:  It's the wiring. My fans had pull chains but the wiring was connected for the fan control and separate for light. One room only had 2 way wiring so I couldn't use a remote or separate switch. Had to keep pull chain. Hope this helps.

      by|Feb 4, 2022

A:  In order to use this switch, you need 2 hot leads coming from the fan to the switch that you're installing this switch into, 1 for the light & 1 for the fan. I'd have to double check, but I think the switch also requires a neutral. Most newer houses have a neutral wire in the switch box. It has been required by code for quite a while. The requirement for the 2 hot wires going to the fan would be there whether you used a combination switch, such as this one, or 2 separate switches. If you only have 1 hot lead going to the fan, then the fan and light are wired together in the ceiling box where the fan is attached. If they are wired together, then you would need to either used the pull chains or get a radio controlled fan switch that will fit in the box and operate the fan and light separately. These are readily available. The trick is getting one that will fit in the space allotted where the fan is mounted.

A:  My fan/light is a pull chain and still didnt work as intended with this product. The light and fan worked only in this reverse. So im getting the dual functionality but not out the correct switches.

          by|Feb 3, 2022

A:  The MACL-LFQ is designed to control a standard 3-speed ceiling fan which only utilizes pull-chains to adjust its speeds. A fan that includes its own remote or wall control typically uses a proprietary control technology and would likely be incompatible with a third-party fan speed control. As always, Lutron would suggest reaching out to your fan manufacturer to verify if this control would be compatible with their fan.

A:  Nice-looking switch. Features on the switch are nice, easy to install 20 minutes the most to complete installation.

                  Answer This Question

A:  yes both the fan and light switch operate independent, but you need to have two fixtures or your fixture needs to be set up to be wired separately (4 wires). I never "dim" the fan as my fan is already under-powered. This was the only single gang switch that would dim LEDs and run a fan that I found. We love having dimmable bathroom lights now!

Q:Hi there, In my kitchen, I have about 7 60 watt dimmable lights surrounding a ceiling fan that also has a range of speeds. These are controlled by a dual combo light switch with dimmers. Could this product handle it and if not is there something else?

                        Answer This Question

A:  The MACL-LFQ is rated for 75W of compatible LED or 250W of incandescent/halogen lighting. The fan speed portion is rated for a single 1.5A ceiling fan that utilizes pull chains for adjusting speeds. If the kitchen lights are LEDs, Lutron recommends reviewing the LED Compatibility website at www.lutron.com/ledfinder.

Q:Looking to install this with a Hunter brand 3-speed pull-chain fan with dimmable-LED. The motor is AC. This switch specifies 4 fan speeds- will it be an issue if the pull-chain fan only runs at 3 speeds (Hi, Med, Low, Off)?

                            Answer This Question

A:  The MACL-LFQH can control 3 speed fans if they have pull chains. However, many third party fans require proprietary controls for their fans. We suggest you reach out to the fan manufacturer to verify if this control would be compatible with their fan.

A:  Most fans have 3 speeds on the pull chain. I have it installed with a Hunter fan and it works fine. I usually use the upper 3 speeds. The first one is very slow.

A:  I am using this with a Hampton Bay three speed ceiling fan; no issues. Just set the pull chain to high and regulate speed using the switch

                                by|Dec 25, 2021

A:  Not an issue. With the pull cords you will set the fan to high, then the switch will control the four levels from there.

                                  by|Dec 28, 2021

A:  It should not be an issue. You install the switch and then turn the fan to the highest speed using the chain and leave it there. Then the wall switch controls the fan speed and provides 4 speeds rather than the three in the fan itself.
