Replaced an old Hunter fan that was hardwired to 2 old fashioned dimmer switches. I wanted to keep the wall switch, not replace with a remote. Purchased new pull-chain Hunter ceiling fan and this single switch/dimmer. Works great. Nice design.

If you are fortunate enough to have 3 wires for the fan control, (or if you plan ahead for the switch), you won't be disappointed! Happy to spend the extra money for a quality product.

This was a 15 minute install, just make sure you have the correct wires. Please read the instructions even if you are a Pro because you are supposed to calibrate the dimmer if you are using LEDs or CFLs.

Love the switch functions. Love having separate controls for both the fan and light. But I'm light sensitive and it drives me nuts how bright the switch is at night. My electrician installed it and the idea seemed great until it was time to sleep. Take out the LED lights and this would easily be 5 stars. (Pic is without any flash. Does not do the brightness justice.)

I had my electrician put this in my bedroom for my new ceiling fan. It works great. I love that I can dim my light on my ceiling fan as well as adjust the speeds from the wall switch. Also, it has tiny little green lights on it so you can see where it is in the dark.

Installation was easy. Do your research by safely taking out and looking at your existing light switch to make sure you buy the correct controller. However, the ability to program a pre-set level for the lights, so that when you press the button to turn on the lights it turns at that brightness without escalating through the dimmer, does not work as spelled out in the manual.

Used to replace single switch in single gang box (didn't want to tear up wall to replace with two-gang box). Now allows for dimming of fan light in addition to changing fan speed (without having to use chains or remote). Works very well with no humming. Using 60W equivalent GE fan bulbs (2) (daylight) in a Hunter Granville fan with light fixture. No tuning was needed straight out of the box. Like the other dimming switches in the line, a faint green LED shows by each control to show the level of dimming. Not as thrilled with the switch plate (that you also have to buy separately).

easy to install, easy to operate . so far very impressed

I wanted to replace the double switch that controls the light and fan (just on/off) with something that could control the fan speed from the wall. They don't seem to make one that just turns the light on/on with a fan control anymore and when I looked around, I liked the features on this unit. The only drawback is the price. But this switch does it all - dims the lights and controls the fan speed. Home Depot only has this in WHITE and I really wanted IVORY but the white worked ok in my room and the location. If you want another color, you will have to find an on-line place to order it. Installation was a snap - take your time to read the instructions, view the video on here. It took me long to get the gosh darn thing shoe horned into the wall as it's a bigger unit than was in there before. So while you're at it, I'd go with the nicer wall plate (yes, that doesn't come with it) where there are no screws. Makes it cleaner looking and just a few bucks more. And if you want more "programming" features, go to the LUTRON web page and search for the Application Note #669. I called them to find out about this. You can re-program the switch to change some timing things.

As an electrical contractor of 30 years, Lutron has always been my top choice for dimmers, offering pro-grade quality combined with very stylish appearance. This device requires that your lighted ceiling fan was wired with 3-wire, to allow for control of the light and the fan separately. So, good for replacement of an existing combination fan / light control, or for new installations wired with 3-wire. The body of this device is almost 1-3/4" deep, so you will need to have an adequately-deep device (switch) box, as well as adequate free space inside that box to neatly fold in all of the wire-nutted conductors. Please do not shoehorn this unit into an overloaded box. This Lutron Maestro control is very stylish, and offers nice features. The unit is made in China.

I'm very disappointed with this Maestro Fan/Light Switch. I was very excited when I began installation, the old dimmers were not working well and I was glad to be replacing them. I did the install (very easy) and turned the juice back on. It worked like a dream. All of the functions were working properly and I was happy. After about 3 or 4 minutes, the light and fan turned off and all of the green indicator lights started blinking. I spent the next two hours trying to figure out what went wrong. I couldn't. I went to Lutron's website...no help. I went to several other sites to no avail. I removed the switch and put in new single pole switches that I had in the shop. They worked fine. I left them in place for a few days but I couldn't just leave it alone and move on because the cool new dimmer didn't work and I really wanted it to and I felt defeated. I decided to start from scratch and re-install it, just in case I had done something wrong and kept overlooking it. Again, very easy install and hurrah, it worked properly. Once again, I put it through all of the tests to make sure it was working properly and it did. Then, once again, after a couple of minutes it quit working again and the green indicator lights started flashing. I spent another hour or so trying to diagnose it again and got frustrated again. I was able to figure out that flashing green indicator lights is a bad thing but still, I don't know what went wrong. The only thing I can figure is it over-heated. This is the second Lutron dimmer switch I have installed and the first one didn't work properly either. Several months ago, I bought one for a new LED chandelier because it was supposed to work with the kind of bulbs I had. I never could get it to work.

I was tired of having to use a pull chain to control the speed of my fan, so I looked for a better solution. Before getting this controller, I pulled my existing double switch off the wall to check the available wiring. VERY IMPORTANT, you need to have your existing switch wired properly in order to use this fan/light control. From your fan you need to have three wires (Fan, Light, Hot) going back to the switch otherwise this control will not work. In the instructions it has the wires as yellow - fan and red - light, but the wires I had were not those colors. In order to install this controller, you need to turn on your light and turn the fan on the highest setting and then turn the power off at the circuit breaker. Thankfully I was replacing an existing switch, but if you were doing a brand new install, you would need a double switch to do this prior to installing this controller. I really like the feel of this switch and it is very responsive. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow.

By far one of the best ceiling fan speed control with added bonus to dim the fan's lights. My Hunter fan comes with an AC motor, so it worked perfectly with the LUTRON Maestro fan control. (NOT for DC motor fans). Wiring the switch was straightforward, just GROUND lug, LINE-IN (black wire), FAN-OUT (yellow wire) and LIGHT-OUT (red wire). Each step in the light dimmer is indicated by a green LED on the switch. Four (4) LED indicators for each of the motor speeds. Gone was the annoying hum of my old dimmer and fan control. I never knew it could be so quiet when the fan was set to a low speed! The dimmer works perfectly with my LED lights in the ceiling fan fixture. (I made sure I bought dim-able LED bulbs). I also love the fact each returns to its last setting when turned back on. Now I can remove the chains from the fan and light switch.

The 4-speed fan control and light dimmer helps you achieve the ideal comfort level for your room. This device allows you to dim your lights and adjust your fan speed all from one wall control using only the space required fro a single gang opening. Switch will maintain the last level of light or fan speed used when turned back on using the push buttons to activate. It has built in level lights on the left side of the switch to let the user know what level the lights or fan speed is set at. There are four speeds for the fan and multiple levels for the light control using a simple slide control located on the right side of the switch. It works with all types of bulbs and provides the best dimming performance. For LED bulbs the manufacturer suggests checking a list of approved LED bulbs, (see "Compatibility Chart"). For LED bulbs there is a way to pre-adjust the initial lowest setting on the switch so 'flickering' doesn't occur. The dimmer gradually turns lights on, about 3-5 seconds, allowing your eyes to adjust to the change in light, and the same to gradually fade off, allowing time to exit a room before the lights turn off completely. Fan control works with up to 1.5A ceiling paddle fan. Fan control provides 4 fan speeds. No wall plate is included so a Decora plate is required. The instructions are very complete leaving even the most inexperienced homeowner to do the installation without assistance.

The Maestro Fan & Light Control combines features of a fan remote control with a light dimmer and on that basis I think the price is justified. If you already have two switch legs (3-wire switch leg) from your fan to your wall switches this allows you to a) eliminate the need to use a pull chain for fan speed control and b) provides light dimming over a good range even for CFL and (dimmable) LED bulbs. My installation was a bit more complicated than some since my existing fan and light switches were in a four-gang box. Most home improvement stores do not stock a cover plate with 3 toggle switch and 1 Decora switch openings. If you already have all Decora switches this isn't an issue. So if your fan & light switches are part of a 4 gang setup be sure you order a new cover plate to complete this installation. Also, I left one switch totally unwired as a "placeholder" for some future use since this switch combines the on/off functions of two toggle or Decora switches. All the Maestro switches and controls have a nice look in my opinion with LEDs to indicate dimming or speed level that aren't too bright or too dim. I have owned items in this line for more than 15 years and been quite pleased with all of them. BTW, I might have opted for a remote control except this fan is in a family room and the mobility of a remote isn't a big issue nor is a timed run time that is available on some dimmers. And the canopy of this fan is more than 12 feet from the floor so adding a receiver to the canopy would mean getting a 12 foot A-frame ladder to safely add the receiver so getting functionality similar to a remote without getting to the fan canopy made a lot of sense for me.

Working great, easy to install

Decent product but overpriced. The speed/brightness controllers would be better if sliders rather than hard-to-manipulate push buttons.

After changing all switches in my home to these type switches to control both the light and fan, I have had to relace 1 switch as it failed after about a year of use. I replaced it with the same type of switch and it was defective upon installation replaced it and now the new one seems to be working fine. I like the design and look but wish quality was better.

I am very disappointed in this product, it does not work properly. It does not shut off or turn on all of the time, I keep needing to reset it. I have another one and have no issues. I will be returning this.

easy to install works well as described

Didn’t work for me. Light would not get to brightest setting, and the fan control was also impacting the light. Returned it and got a low tech switch, with sliders.

The Lutron Maestro Fan Control and Light Dimmer replaced dual twist knob switch. The knobs were getting difficult to twist. The Lutron switch is great. Each switch is clearly marked for the Fan and Light. Installed the Lutron switch on November 19, 2023, so it has been in operation for almost a month - no issues to date and I use it daily.

Works well, replaced the old style perfectly.

So easy to put in. Wires were labeled making it easy. Works great.
