      Answer This Question

A:  No, the exhaust fan cannot be used as a kitchen exhaust fan.

      by|Nov 1, 2018

A:  NO! This unit is not designed for a kitchen application. The roof mounting is a flat sheetmetal flashing design. There is no allowance for a completed vent pipe. A kitchen vent or range hood is the proper ... Broan has a good system. Should a kitchen fire start the unpiped installation will allow heat and flames into the joist space above. Also, you need a fan that's usable after dark ... this unit is designed to work in daylight. rpz

Q:My attic is small 21x22 ft, and the roof line runs East to West. If the unit is mounted near the peak on the North side so as not seen from the South side driveway side, will the solar panel get enough sun during summer months to run? With the panel full tipped and facing South, what is the angle? The roof slope is 6/12 or around 26.7 degrees.

              Answer This Question

A:  Yes, I would say it will definitely work for you. I say that because the installation you describe is EXACTLY my situation. My house is oriented with high gable ends facing due East on one end and due West on the other end. I installed this same exhaust fan on the North facing roof line, close to the crown of the roof, but not visible from the street on the South side. The small solar panel has an adjustment that lets you aim it straight up, but not quite enough adjustment to allow it to face in a southerly direction. Despite being mounted to that southern facing roof line, it irks great. A straight up orientation for the panel is not ideal at all, but it suffices to make mine run most of the day.

A:  The panel will need direct sunlight, with the suns rays perpendicular to it. : The optimum angle can be calculated by using the approximate latitude of the house plus 20 degrees. The solar panel should face south. If you have any other inquiries about our Master Flow products please call Technical Services at 800-211-9612.

A:  The fan only runs if direct sun is hitting it. Just keep that in mind.

A:  No ... All roof fans are clockwise rotating motors and fan blades which provide exhaust out of the attic. Please call Technical Care at 800-211-9612 with any additional questions.
