A: I was able to get it to fit an 8" duct pipe using sheet metal screws, tape and or sealant and bending the flange before hand. I believe it would work with a 6" also with a little more bending and working.

A: No, this 6" saddle is made to mount to a large round main trunk. If you need to split a 6" duct into two 6" ducts, you either need a "T" (tee) or "Y" (wye) fitting. Do ensure you have sufficient air flow and you are not altering the balance. You may want to tap off a main trunk and consult an HVAC pro.

A: I just bought this and used it for a bypass duct in a humidifier application. I had the same question as you but took a gamble and bought it. It fits pretty well on my 14 in diameter duct but had to bend it ever so slightly. It looks and works great. I would guess it would fit a 15 or 16 pretty well. So if I had to guess I would say use for 14-16 inches ducts.
