      by|Jan 30, 2023

A:  How to add flexible ducting depends on many variables, including what the original plenums are made of and what it is being used for, supply, returns or other venting options. 6" Flexible duct would require 6" collars and fittings. If you have any other questions please email stance.warrantyllbp@gaf.com for assistance.

Added a bathroom exhaust vent fan due to no window in bathroom and metal hinges, light fixture etc were rusting due to the humidity from showers. Very costly to install because bathroom was in the center of house. Vented it to the end of house instead of roof. Didn’t want to mess with the shingles. All in all, I believe this will solve the problem and bring house up to code. Home Depot was the only store in town that sold this.

Easy to work with. Does exactly what it is supposed to. I had two 25 ft sections. Used about 20 ft for one duct and attached the remaining 5 ft to the other full 25 ft section for a second needed duct. Had to stretch it a bit so as to not have to buy another 25 ft. Would have liked it if it came in greater than 25 ft sections - maybe 30 or 40 ft length.

Following an upstairs flood, I had to replace my air duct since a lot of water went down the old air duct. This duct, plus a couple of zip-ties made an easy job! To cut it, I used a box-cutter knife, plus a pair of wire cutters when I got to the coiled wire of the duct. If needed, a little extra silver/foil duct tape can help ensure it doesn't leak air around the seal, sort of a belt & suspenders approach to ensuring the duct doesn't slip off the zip-tie connections.

Excellent stuff it's a much better value than the more expensive similar models by other brands I actually didn't use for its intended use, I cut in half the long way and wrapped around steam pipes. It was 1/3 the price of official pipe insulation! 10" tube was perfect for 50' of 4" steam pipe, 8" tube was perfect for 50' of 3" steam pipe. The trick to getting it to fit nice without compressing the Rvalue from 6 to 4 was peeling in half from 1.5 to 0.75" and wrapping around gently twice (also why as shown in the photo the pink glass stayed on the pipe until I put on the silver foil) Alternatively you can cut into long strips 1/4 of the width and spiral around the pipe if you curl gently enough you can maintain the 1.5" of the R6.

With the freakishly cold weather we've been having this winter, we developed a problem with water vapor freezing inside our regular plastic ducting that connected the bathroom vent fan up through the attic and out through the roof. When the ice would melt, water would drip back out of the vent fan and make a mess in the bathroom. We removed the old plastic ducting (along with the 10 lb chunk of ice that was inside it - wow!) and replaced it with this. It was easy to connect since the inside is the same size as the regular cheapo plastic ducting. And since switching, we have not had any more dripping so I assume it is doing its job. The only problem is that 25 feet of this is WAY more than we needed and it didn't come in smaller lengths. So now we have a pile of leftovers which I suppose we'll use if any of our other bathroom fans have the same issue in the future. Anyhow, this did the job for a reasonable price and now we can sit on the toilet without getting dripped on - what more could you ask??
