A:  Hello Year, Sound proof is a strong word. Fiberglass insulation in a floor ceiling cavity will help to reduce sound traveling from one space to another, but it does not address structural sound that also carries through a floor/ceiling assembly. So adding batt insulation and drywall to the ceiling will help, but to get optimal sound reduction, structural sound should also be addressed with the drywall attached using resilient channels. This product is designed for “friction fit” installation – no stapling is necessary/required. In situations that friction fit of faced batts does not sufficiently hold the insulation in place, use of minimal staples to secure the insulation to the framing can be utilized.
