A:  There are several manufacturers that produce fasteners specifically intended for use with cellular PVC. (See list below). You can also use fasteners designed for wood trim. They should have thin shanks, blunt points and full round heads. Fasteners should penetrate 1½” into substrate. Fasteners should be positioned no less than ¾” or more than 2” from end of boards. Fasteners must be weather resistant, such as stainless steel. For interior trim, such as casing, base, quarter round and crown, use 16 gauge finish nails, 6d or 8d finish nails. Pneumatic guns can be used - rubber bumpers on the nail gun tooling will protect the moulding. Air pressure should be adjusted based upon gun, temperature, substrate (80-100 psi is typical). Always use the least pressure necessary to drive the nail into the product.).Trim should be fastened to a flat solid surface. In cold weather below 40°F, predrilling may be necessary

A:  Any thin guage finish nails. I used 18 ga in a Ryobi nail gun. If you don't have a nail gun a finish nail at least 2 in. long. Might want to pre drill holes if worried about splitting.

A:  You could paint it, but why spend so much money to paint the an item going on the floor. The cost was about $27 per 8 LF not cheap to play with. As per the Prep I am not sure.

Q:Is each side of this EXACTLY 1" please? I have to find something like this that CANNOT be more than 1" on the outside sides, like this image, please see the image attached to this post. After recently getting in our crown moulding I realized to my horror they gave the WRONG DIMENSION for its thickness! Now the trim I already have for the vertical outside (and inside) wall corners won't work because the crown moulding's corners are too small and thin to work with it! Hopefully this will. Additionally, how thick is the ACTUAL MATERIAL used please? Not the width but the thickness of the PVC at the EDGES (also shown in image). Thank you. ;-)

          Answer This Question

A:  The outside dimension is not more than 1" it might be SLIGHTLY less (like .95"). The inside dimension is approximately 0.75", i could only estimate because it's glued to the wall, but it's extremely close. From my experience the cross sections are accurate; you can take into photoshop and scale the 1" side to 1" exactly and use the measuring tools to measure any other.

A:  I actually did use a caliper to make sure and it measured evenly on each side at .990

Q:Does this have a 'wood-grain' like textured finish please? It's very hard to tell with such a small image. Thanks.

              Answer This Question

A:  No. It is imitation wood grain look only.

              by|Oct 22, 2019

A:  No, it is a PVC that has a glossy finish...no grain or texture at all. The picture is not really accurate. From the ends and moving to the corner, you can see a "U" shape, which is not correct. At the midpoint, the thickness detail does become thinner but remains the same thinness all the way to the corner.

Q:do they have a base corner for bull nosed drywall corners
              by|May 8, 2016

              Answer This Question

A:  You can cut your own "bullnose " corner by cutting your 1st piece of base at 22 1/2 degrees on your miter saw, then cut you middle piece (the small one) on both sides at 22 1/2 degrees and your last piece the same at 22 1/2 degrees. It may sound confusing but it works. Sometimes you may have to adjust your angle as no corner is perfect, be patient

              by|May 4, 2023

A:  Probably your best option is one of these two ideas: 1; use a ceramic tile corner or 2; use a dowel cut into quarters; ceramic tile is 6" tall and 3/ 4 inch radius should match the bullnose of the corner pretty well, while protecting the heck out of the bottom edge of the corner. You could also introduce a sharp corner with a turned corner, you would stop the bull-nose an inch or so above the point of the turned corner and it would look pretty good. -awr
