A: Yes, our Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Textured Sprays are oil-based enamel coatings with added texture, and may be applied over fully dried enamel paint. We recommend allowing the enamel to cure for a minimum of 48 hours before applying this coating to prevent any solvent wrinkling reactions. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

Q:I love the way this looks but it seems to scratch fairly easily. Are there any recommended clear coats that would keep the same texture/shine but protect it from scratches better?

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for reaching out, Shawn! Our Stops Rust Textured Black Spray Paint will cure and reach full hardness after 7 days. If the surface scratches easily, an additional coat may be applied to build the thickness of the coating on the surface. While a clear coating may be applied, this will affect the textured finish, creating a smoother surface. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

Q:Do I need a primer before paint?

Answer This Question
A: Primer will help in metal areas, on plastic use Dupli-Color CP199 Clear Adhesion Promoter Primer.

A: Highly recommend it but not necessary. You will get much better results priming first
by|May 5, 2023
A: While a primer isn't absolutely necessary, you'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes in most projects. Primers make colors pop, help topcoats go on more efficiently and prepare surfaces like bare wood, metal, and rust before painting.

Q:Can spray product on sheet metal? After its dry, is ot possible to engrave the black painted part with a dremel?

Answer This Question
A: Yes, this product can be finished in that way.
by|May 4, 2023
A: For the best results, we recommend applying a primer or a similar colored topcoat to that bare metal prior to applying Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Textured Spray paint to help promote adhesion and coverage. We recommend using a Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Primer! We also recommend etching in a test area first to ensure the desired results. Please keep in mind that this coating will fully cure after 7-10 days in ideal conditions.
