It is not recommended to use on vinyl plank but it could be mitigated if no heat is trapped under the rug, that is what will ruin the flooring. A:  The pile is thick enough to stop the roller on my standard upright, so I'd assume a stick would experience the same. If you keep continuous motion it's fine, but if you pause at all, the roller sticks.
