A: Hello,
Although FibaTape products can be used with all types of compounds, we do have some recommendations for the best results.
When taping regular, tapered edge seams with Perfect Finish or Extra Strength tape we recommend heavy weight all-purpose ready mixed compound for those that prefer all-purpose compounds. If the temperature is warm and stable and humidity is low you can also use the heavy weight compound with our other FibaTape products. Taping and setting compounds are also great to use with our FibaTape products. We suggest staying away from light weight compounds when embedding any type of tape. Remember to always refer to the compound manufacturer’s instructions for recommended drying times.
Yes, this product can be use and replace the regular tape for your big project.

A: No you do not, the tape has adhesive that should stick to your surface. However if the tape doesn't stick you can put down a thin skim coat to help the tape adheir to the surface your working on.

A: They make a cement board specific mesh tape.
by|Mar 22, 2019
A: Yes, but it may not stick as well as it does on drywall. So I have used spray adhesive and then waited 30 min or so before applying mortar. That should do the trick!
Hope this helps.
P.S. - we also use the spray adhesive on drywall as well. For paper tape and mesh tape. :-) just a trick of the trade.

A: Most textured surfaces are done using buckets of heavy duty drywall taping compound, you can use lightweight compound but you'll experience problems.Type of texture you want to achieve determines which method is used. The easiest & most common texture is done using a 9" roller w/ 1/2" - 3/4" nap dripped into compound & rolled across roller screen removing excess then rolled on surface creating texture. I recommend hiring a "Experienced Professional" to do this & talk to any previous customers before proceeding. DIY'ers can practice on extra sheet of drywall until feeling confident with process & whatever you do, allow enough time for compound to completely dry before proceeding to do anything else to newly textured surface. My experience is that over time those that have textured surface(s) end up wishing they never had a textured surface. So, I'd sleep on it & really think about it before doing it. Otherwise, if you determine you don't like it, you're looking at $$$$ to remove texture.
Most of the time my customers are wanting texturing removed not applied! Also if drywall repairs are needed at a later date it's very difficult to re-create same texture over area(s) repaired!
