    Answer This Question

A:  I recommend sanding the mud and priming it before painting. You will get a better result. Otherwise the dry mud will suck paint into it. It’s very porous. Also, make sure you remove the old tape first before applying this.

A:  I would be wary of applying anything over a loose surface. Remove whatever is loose and this stuff will stick and bridge any irregularities underneath. I would always sand and prime mud. that's why I hate drywalling particularly ceilings

I had a ceiling to replace and wanted to use this mesh tape with hot mud (quick setting) for my first coat. It was very sticky and stayed put as it was applied. I like to use mesh tape on on my straight joints and the hot mud for the added strength it will give the joint.

I used this tape on hardy backer for a floor tile job. I think it worked great. It is wider then other tape and it has enough adhesive on it to stick to the backer board with no problems at all. Glad I tried it. I will definitely be buying it again!

        Great Tape for Certain Situations
I did professional tape-and-bed work about 25 years ago. I don't know off-hand, but I hung and finished over ten thousand sheets of drywall. Heck, maybe a lot more than that. I just don't remember how much. Anyway, back then we didn't use the mesh tape all that much. It didn't work all that well, and we were good enough to use regular old paper tape for almost anything. I got out of the business and haven't kept up with the new products. So, I'm finishing my garage/workshop these days and decided to try this tape. In short, it's excellent. I'm going to use it everywhere on my project. It's a smallish project at about 1400 square feet with 9 and 12 foot ceilings. But, this stuff works great. I've had it up for a few weeks now to see if it would hold and it does like a champ. This might not be the perfect product for the pro in all situations, as the pro might have some specialized equipment to run paper tape quick-and-easy. But, for those vaulted ceilings and such, this would be a winner. For the DIY person, this is the go-to tape. Stick it down and hit it with mud when you are ready.

This is the best drywall tape ever made. This tape has a zig-zag reinforcement as well. It is also 2-3/8 inch wide. I used it to restore a bathroom ceiling damaged by paint that started to peel away from he wallboard. After scraping as much of the loose paint as I could I covered the entire ceiling overlapping each strip by 3/8 inch. It took nearly the whole roll. I then mudded the ceiling. The mud went through the tape but did not loosen it. A few more applications of mud and the ceiling was smooth and flawless. No trace of the tape could be seen. I then used it to tape a sunroom exposed the winter temps. Previous paper tapes split all over at wallboard joints. It went on easily even around corners on the skylight. The extra width was very nice. The tape stuck well and was thin enough not to be visible even after one coat of mud. I actually used a 45 minute set powder mix. Again excellent results. The only problem was seeing where the roll starts which I saw easily with a magnifying glass. Put a little piece of paper on the end of the roll to make finding the beginning easy.

        Excellent Tape - very "tacky"
This is a great tape for corners and ceilings. It made it very easy to tape them without having the tape move or slip while I was getting the mud ready to cover the tape. The self adhesive really does stick well. I would suggest dusting/brushing where you are going to be placing the tape so that there is less extra dust preventing the tackiness of the tape. Attaching a picture of the corner in the living room ceiling.

        Very good.
In a hunch I decided to use this tape in my underlayment which is very good but does not have a seam tape. It worked perfectly. I will continue use it on the rest of my project.

Great product! Extra Strenth Mesh Drywall tape
I have been recommending this product to friends and family. This is a huge improvment to the orginal white square mesh tapes. Firstly, this tape is wider so better coverage. I also have been using it to batch large holes in the walls and celing in an old house I am renovating and it holds great and the cross hatched fibers almost work like lath. This stuff is strong. I have also used it to build up plaster layer by layer were the walls are uneven. I have used it to patch corners as well - even though it is not maid for that. The adhesive works so well I have used it on corners. You can sand the fibers smooth - where you can see them, but not feel them. This is a wonder product. Best drywall tape ever!!
