A: Hello Rick, my name is Colin with Simpson Strong-Tie. The THD37300H 3/8 in. x 3 in. Zinc-Plated Heavy-Duty Screw Anchor has not been tested and does not have any published allowable tension (withdrawal) or shear values when installed in unreinforced masonry (URM or common brick). We do not recommend this installation. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.

Q:Can these screws be wet set around concrete pour or do they need to be drilled after the concrete is poured?
by|Jul 18, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Hey Erik, this is Ricardo. We do not suggest wet-setting these anchors because there is no installation guidelines that support it. The THD anchors are designed to cut as they are screwed in. Any other installation process cannot be supported by SIMPSON. Maybe going with a threaded rod would be a better option? Please call us at 800-999-5099 if you have any further questions.

Q:Does the concrete have to be completely cured(28 days) or can I place them within a week or so of pouring?
by|Jun 29, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Hi Kris, this is McKenzie from Simpson Strong-Tie. The THD's do require full cure of the concrete in order to achieve the loads we give for them. Installing into green concrete can alter the performance and may result in a reduction of load. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.

Q:The specification chart says the required hole size is 3/4". That does not seem correct.
by|Jun 23, 2023

Answer This Question
A: Hello BobF, this is Ricardo with Simpson. I believe the chart is referring to the minimum fixture hole size. This is speaking of the size of the hole in what is being attached to the concrete. The hole size that should be drilled into the concrete is the same as the anchor, 5/8". If you would like to discuss this more in detail, please contact our Technical Support team at 800-999-5099.
