Q:Is there a maximum embedment depth specification?

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi ThriftyGuy, thank you for your message. This is Ricardo with Simpson Strong-Tie. Minimum embed depth which I would argue is more critical for post-installed anchors can be found in the TEB bulletin link below for Titen HD. Maximum embed depth is typically determined by the length of anchor one calls out minus the thickness of fixture installer is anchoring. https://ssttoolbox.widen.net/view/pdf/uw7dovroi1/TEB-A-THD22_R1.pdf?t.download=true&u=cjmyin If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. Q:Is this ok to use on pressure treated lumber to fasten down to concrete foundation? Was planning to use it for a double door for basement but planned to use this to anchor down the treated plate. Thank you in advance

      Answer This Question

A:  Hello J123, I am Colin from Simpson Strong-Tie. The Zinc Plated THD37600H is not intended for contact with many types of pressure treated lumber chemicals. However, I do not know if the Zinc Plated or the Mechanically Galvanized THD37600HMG Screw Anchor is suitable for your application. We do have a technical bulletin on strongtie.com that provides prescriptive anchorage solutions for connecting a 2x pressure treated mud sill to a concrete foundation. Enter the code T-A-SILPLANCH21 in the Search strong-tie field at the top of our home page for more information. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.

                Answer This Question

A:  Hello Sman, this is Ricardo with the Simpson Strong-Tie Company. In order to be sure the threads of the THD anchor pass through the wood, we would recommend you pre-drill the wood at 5/8" using a wood bit. For the concrete, using a masonry bit, it would be pre-drilled 1/2", since the threads are designed to cut into the concrete as the anchor is turning. Thank you for choosing our products. Have a great day.
